1) Start a small nursery. You can grow thousands of seedlings and cuttings with little property. I made a lot of money one year selling all my plants locally. I had 14 acres and a lot of full garden space when we decided to move. I had a couple of garage sales with mostly plants in the spring when people were buying and I posted the rest for sale on Kijiji and other local buy-and-sell places. I got a lot of response. The money I made was a real eye opener! I have since thought that I would like to do that again, as a business, when I have time again. Maybe approach some local sellers with a list of what you have for sale. Perennial food plants sell very well, i.e. berries, asparagus, rhubarb... 2) Do some decorative landscaping and have weddings there. I've had some calls from people interested in having them here but we are just not set up for that, nor do we have the time, but it's big money. 3) If you have a good location on your property, start a farmer's market. Rent out spaces, that way you get paid no matter what. Do a lot of advertising ahead of time, like the previous summer, fall and winter. You may need to upgrade your insurance for that. Or have a fair on your property, like a fall fair through the Chamber of commerce and ADVERTISE, renting out booths and tenting spaces for renters. 4) Put a small market booth at the end of your driveway or build a small shed or open pole barn, roof only and have an open store there on the weekends. In addition to your produce and eggs you can make crafts, grapevine wreaths, organic farm soap, jams-jellies, syrup, dried herbs, handmade jewelry, garden ornaments, bat and bird houses, etc. etc. The list of things you could sell there is long. Advertise your stuff in a buy-and-sell area that will get people out there. Make a large A-frame sign for the street corners. You can keep the produce and a few items there through the week with a self-pay system. 5) Start a CSA and ADVERTISE. 6) Bees. Use top bar hives for more beeswax. It's worth more than the honey. You can sell bars of the wax online. 7) Start a hatchery. Sell them in your store or online and ship to people. ADVERTISE.

A person in our town is on the Project Coyote Team and gave a great lecture/slide show about Eastern Coyotes. She thinks owls are more to blame for missing cats not coyotes since she said she rarely found feline bones in coyote scat. The website has an interesting field guide to "hazing" coyotes to keep them away. We were told that once they are around, they will replenish/reproduce if some are killed off. I was happy to hear that the awful yipping sounds I have heard at night were just coyotes conversing. We have seen pups out in the field but rarely hear or see coyotes anymore. If she is right, they have simply moved a little ways and just aren't living as close to us as they used to. A neighbor with farm animals doesn't want them around. One time when my husband was mowing the field, he saw one watching him. He got the jeep out and went very close to the coyote who seemed healthy and not scared at all. My husband started beeping the horn which finally made the animal move off. I called NH Fish and Game for advice and was told that coyotes have learned that mowing stirs up field mice etc and it is lunch time. The coyote was simply waiting for a free meal. A hunter/wildlife expert with farm animals who used to write a column for the NH Sunday News said they were better off letting coyotes be if they were "well behaved". The farm had guard dogs to protect sheep. He said if you killed a coyote, one that caused problems might move in. There was a good scene in the documentary Biggest Little Farm about coyotes in CA. They thought the coyotes were killing their chickens but they needed the coyotes to kill the gophers that were eating fruit tree roots and killing newly planted trees. Here's the link. Vaporvac and Deborah, I purchased the GRF tour when they first started offering them about half the price as now. It was a fabulous tour that includes lunch and making your own bouquet of roses from what they have in their coldroom that day. So considering the price of a bouquet purchased online, the price is right and upped to reflect that. They are in the middle of making a new display garden that we didn’t go into, but it was at least and acre or two. They also have an AirB&B guest house that they were absolutely filling with bouquets of roses as they were getting ready for guest to arrive. A huge bouquet in each bedroom and two in the living room. The tour of the guest house had me swooning as it was filled with the scent of roses. It would be a lovely weekend getaway for any rose lover. Grace and Ryan were out of town that weekend, but their right hand man, Dan, gave the tour. All the staff there were the loveliest and sweetest people. It was a day to remember!

My wife was put back on her original med for migranes she took for years...So no new meds. She did not come home until today so things not going very well here...
