It's more me being bummed out about all the extra work and mess it's going to involve, not to mention that this is yet another small but significant bump in the road. Guess it was premature of me to think, end of last week, that we were *this* close to being done! I suppose it's not a true renovation experience without all these glitches. I even considered last night to leave the lights as is and live with it for a while. Yes, hanging scattered on a slanted ceiling would be tricky. My hanging surfaces are all flat, so that is good. The fixture we like best for the room is 36-37", but there is another one that I think is more like 26-28" that would likely be the second choice. It would "fudge" better since it wouldn't fill as much space, but it would still be off center over the table -- its about the size of the fixture we have now. I don't know if thiss is getting no response because it's the week before Christmas or if no one has an opinion (on GW/HOUZZ??? LOL). I would not be concerned. I'm about 180 pounds and have stood on my counters many times. If you are really paranoid, put down a piece of plywood (with a blanket under it to prevent scratches) which will distribute the weight. But, realistically, this is totally unnecessary. Your husband, in his stocking feet, would be applying a pressure of a couple of pounds per square inch to the surface, which is nothing. Think about this: Would you be concerned with pressing down on the surface as hard as you can with your thumb? That's much more pressure per square inch than your husband would cause standing on the surface.
