A cute photo op I had today

schoolhouse_gwagain

Peach decided he had found a nice place to rest today and watch the world go by. I had brought the buggy and the governess cart out for airing and cleaning.

Can't say I blame Peach.....I wouldn't mind resting there and thinking about days of yore, too.

That is one very fine buggy-cart, and the details are very accurate. The only items that may not be a scaled copy are the suspension springs and the steering semi-circular bearing on the front axle. Also, a real buggy would have had a step attached on each side of the bottom of the box.

Its too nice for hauling buckets of dirt.

The governess wicker cart may be a real antique, maybe not quite old enough to be qualify as an antique, but it appears to be a collectable to me. The wheels, hub, axle nuts, and elliptical leaf springs look like real items to me.

Yes, both vehicles are antiques, early 1900s. The top buggy is a what was called a "piano box buggy" or sometimes a "doctors buggy". The governess cart is pony-size which is rare. I have the step-ups for the buggy just never had them installed.

The wicker cart did have some restoration as I was involved in an accident that broke one wheel and also broke the original shafts, which were more lightweight and really wonderful. Also a mechanism under the cart for raising the body no longer is working....l think. It's been quite awhile since I have used either.

I assure you I do NOT use them for hauling dirt.

Love it and love Peach! Cats do have a way of finding the most decorative places/way to pose themselves. Vain creatures...

I really enjoyed your pictures of the buggy and the pony cart. Growing up I had a buggy very similar to yours, my seat was different and it was missing the top. Mine was an Amish buggy I had saved my money to buy. I had my pony Babe to pull it all over and it was a lot of fun. It did have the steps on the side to get in. That has been so many years ago. Nice memories, thanks for sharing pictures and of your kitties too.
