just a thought but I would paint the room first...........i think is should be lighter and not any green to the tone.

I like dark powder rooms. Bathrooms not so much, but that's a personal preference. I would choose a lighter version of the tile.

I can't match paint colors on a monitor. Go to the paint store and bring home every paint chip you think is close to your tile color. Then take them in the room and see how far off your guesses were. (LOL) Choose the closest ones. If you need to go get more paint chips, do that. Once you have the hue determined, then it's a matter of finding the right value and saturation.

Sherwin-Williams Color-Snap gives me this:

Ancestral gold looks like the closest color to your tile. When I go to that color at SW, it gives me Iconic ivory as a coordinating color. Start there with ancestral gold and iconic ivory.

Aberger, I found both the tiles above at Home Depot. But look at Lowes and other flooring stores, too, Bring home samples to see them in your room. Yes to larger tiles, if you can find them.

hi RL, I need some direction on lighting and a fan that has better lighting I had before.
a fuse blew and caused my fan and light not to work. the bulb smelled burnt and had some black around the bottom of the bulb (see pic)
I put a new light in and works but no dimmer and fan not working via remote. unable to adjturn on fan and light any other way. light will not go off unless I take out bulb.

the fan and light are 6 years old.
I replaced remote 3x with something in the fixture itself.
it may of not been able to handle the LED.

any suggestions with current fan/light or a new light and fan.
I want to improve lighting than I had before.

Well, let's start at the beginning, do you need a fan?

Then I move to, no its not the LED bulb, it uses much less power as far as that goes. Its more likely a result of all the things you have plugged into limited power supplies. If you can hide them I suggest you move to surge protectors where you can. Most of the time when power wants out it goes to the last thing on the line which may have been your fan. Also if you run the fan with all the lights and tv on its possibly you are overloading your circuits.

Fan remotes are always garbage unless its an old Casablanca Fan those things never died lol.

My first thought is to call the electrician and have him see if you are on overload? IDK what kind of pannel you have but I'm guessing its an old one, might just be a fuse replacement and move on.

My next issue is let's not by "cheap" led bulbs. Spend the extra and buy a good name brand that will also help.

I loath ceiling fans but they do a job so let me know the answer about the need and then we can move on. If we stick fan we are moving to a white fan that blends away, not fancy and with a good warranty.

Lastly, if you have the receipt see what the return policy is for that bulb....

I have all surge protectors....I think the new remote and connector blew out because it was old since the bulb is not the issue. can it be possible using an led bulb with a fixture that is halogen friendly only?

I'm on the fence with a fan....i dont think I need a fan since I have great ac and windows to open....but I dont like opening windows in nyc be cause of dirt and pollen season.... my electric is free so running ac no problem.....
however, if we did lighting alone, any ideas?

if I did fan with led lighting, what is the max amount of lumens I can get with an LED?
most I saw was 120 watt that equated to a 22 watt led that produced I think 2000 lumens.

Let me think about what to do since I assume lamps are not enough, and we have directional lighting covered here might be a time to get something that fits the MCM style you like. Now when Grover chimes in (lol), we have to remember to pick something that can be adapted to the cord and plug.

now the remote not working is not the fault of the handheld part but the receiver in the fan itself. That is a minka aire fan?

So that being said, we also have to think about how you will turn this on since running another switch may not be possible?

Go and look at some ceiling lights you like I dont care really if they are the right size for now just want to get a feel for what you like!!

We also need it to semi coordinate with the dining pendant light.

Also to your question about light, there was never a 120watt bulb, which makes me laugh, so if you want to go back and remember the old outdoor flood lights we all had, they were a 100watt typically. Or when we had the old 3 way light bulbs, it would be about equivalent to the brightest setting on that. Lumens are metered light output and were created by candle foot measure of light, so I'm not always fond of people trying to wrap their brain around how that translates. because one candle will light one sq. foot, from a one foot distance.

I decided no fan......
the wiring is all there when I take the fan down. you are right it is the receiver that blew and yes Minka fan. I just bought that receiver about 6 months ago to match the remote.
Can an LED cause a fixture that is halogen friendly to malfunction?
anyway, I will look and would love to hear from Grover :) and get her eye......
I will get back to you with some ideas on lighting......simple and bright like high hats are great but I dont have that option.

That fixture has 3 sockets. each socket is made to withstand 40watt regular old light bulb.

Therefore you can put whatever wattage LED you want in there. That being said I don't think you need to max out. Just start by putting what you have, and then adjust. I dislike it when the mfg is like "4.5 watt= 40 watt... ok but in reality, you could put a 10 watt led in there and it would have 0 impact on the socket.

The bulbs seems to by tucked up inside so I dont think blinding will be an issue.

yes, it has an open bottom and three lamps, also, what I REALLY like about it is the shades are adjustable, so you can somewhat direct the light! The descriptions says 3 60watt sockets!! I think that's ample with the other lighting you have already within the space.

G stands for globe, aka round, by no means do you have to buy a round bulb. It has a candle base socket. The G bulb probably a bit more decorative, but I don't think people stare up at the ceiling lol. I would assume it is available in LED but might be easier to find a regular candle bulb at the store. my only concern is some of the LED candle bulbs are long. Thought... try to buy the same brand as you put in the floor lamp so the color is the same. daylight from bulb to bulb can differ.

I got an LED torchiere with an arm thinking it would make the corner by the chair cleaner and brighter without wires...

the lamp works but need to pull plug out when I want it off.

lmk which setup you like. I currently just added the torchiere by the otherside of the couch. it may be unnecessary I can always use in my bedroom.
Any idea (if it would) where the torchiere would fit in? I love the light it gives off and the room is finally at the brightness I like.

what will reduce glare from the ceiling fixture besides turning the shade? the bulb I have is 60 watt clear LED. the white 60 watt led too yellow.
I do have it on a dimmer.

is the candle bulb smaller?this bulb is just under 3" in height. Maybe the candle bulb will not give off as much glare??

It is tough to get a match because the inside of th ed ceiling fixture is not as white as the lamp....

I personally hate torchiere lamps, but if it provides light you like in the right amount, so be it. Do you have a chair on order? Looking forward to seeing it in your room.

my console is 96" with the tv wall 127".
