arranging living room furniture w/ front door opens to living room
Comments (2)You might consider moving the sofa to be centered in front of the window and put the chair nearer the door adding a pony wall height bookshelf (with its back to the chair), with or without doors on the entry side, between the chair and the door to create an entry; perhaps something like this: http://thegamersforce.com/ikea-glass-door-bookcase/bookshelf-inspiring-low-bookcase-with-doors-bookcase-with-doors-ikea-dark-brown-bookcase-with-glass-glass-door-ikea-bookcase-singapore-ikea-glass-door-bookcase-ikea-billy-bookcase-glass-door-instruc/ A barrister style bookcase could also work. Such a room divider would give you a place to add a lamp to the room....See MoreIdeas to arrange furniture in a small living/diving area?
Comments (6)Yeah the bedroom closest to the living room is supposed to be the master bedroom and is the only one with in-built closets. The second bedroom can at best can fit only a double/queen bed with small side tables without closets or any thing else in the room though. We are just two of us and while we'd definitely like to have a guest bed arrangement somewhere, we wouldn't use both bedrooms as bedrooms. I am still not sure which one I'd like as the bedroom because the master bedroom has in-built closets and great lighting and is an obvious choice for the bedroom, but if we used the second bedroom as a bedroom it may be advantageous because it'll just have our bed (closet and dressing room could be made out of the smallest room of the house and right across the second bedroom) and the master bedroom could be used for other things (ideas include: music room, yoga/meditation, reading room, work space, socializing, sofabed. No TV though) . But I guess it is nice to wake up in a well-lit and nicer room, perhaps? So I am pretty confused basically. This is supposed to be the master bedroom (ignore all the furniture and items please). This is the second bedroom/den: This is the spare smallest room located across the second bedroom: BTW, this is a rental so we can't really make any major changes. Thanks so much!...See MoreHow to arrange living room furniture in open living room?
Comments (26)Marie13100, I mentioned in the beginning we are in the process of remodeling our kitchen and we needed to move the dining table into our living room temporarily and cover everything from the dust. Lynn G, you’re right. Having to look at the wall would be a bit depressing. The most recent floor plan I posted that had the sectional along the window and long wall would be perfect because we can view directly outside the patio door which is in the dining room....See MoreHelp arranging unbalanced living room
Comments (66)Hi everyone. Of course I came here for fresh eyes and/or expertise. I'm very grateful for your ideas, whether I love them, need some convincing, or don't like them. I just got a little overwhelmed and needed a break. The macrame table is moved, regardless of couch position. It looks stark to me, but I'm just used to seeing it there. So again, thanks for the fresh eyes. We tried the piano behind the couch, and while it definitely has merit, we actually prefer the "softer" path from the stairs to the dining room (rather than the tighter u-turn, the hard right turn into the living area, then the hard left turn into the dining room.) But it was definitely worth trying, and anyways, it will be a nonissue once we move the piano out of the room. I actually like the idea of a shelf behind the couch by the windows with lots of short plants (maybe frames) on it. I'm going to guess that's a bad idea because all the focus should be on the moose/fireplace? Teach me! @lobo_93 That fireplace idea looks so cozy and I like how the moose looks with it! Thanks for helping me visualize something darker and heftier....See MoreKathy
