Accent walls/coordinating colors for Accessible Beige in Bay home?

last modified: 5 years ago

Hi, We are purchasing a townhome on the Chesapeake Bay to use as a vacation/sailing home. It is a middle unit, so it is quite dark except for one living area and the bedrooms which have south facing sliding glass doors.

It is currently painted almost entirely in Accessible Beige (SW 7036) which we think we will mostly keep due to the cost and effort of changing it. (Two story foyer we can’t paint ourselves and they are leaving us that paint). There is SW Extra White trim and a few accent walls of a darker grey color that we haven’t identified. The floors are a lighter hardwood throughout the entire property. (Photos below from while current owners are still there - not our furniture or planned style).

We want to give it a vacation/bay/nautical feel; however most ideas I have seen for that involve white walls and a lot of dark navy - and I am scared to do navy given the low light. Which leads me to my questions:

1) What color do you recommend for accent walls with Accessible Beige? (Keeping in mind the desire for ‘bay’ feel and not a lot of light?

2) Knowing Accessible Beige thoughout the main house, what are your favorite bedroom colors to evoke that coastal/bay feel? (I’m thinking blues and greens like the sea but all suggestions welcome!)

Thank you for all suggestions!

Accessible Beige on right wall. Unknown grey accent on left.

Downstairs living area (we will not have this much stuff! Or this style) Accessible Beige plus one small accent area of the grey on right side wall

Upstairs living area (very dark) Accessible Beige

Master Bedroom - currently Accessible Beige (all bedrooms are) with a ceiling strip of it too. We want to go more vacation/relaxing/bay. There is a peak of the bay out that door.

Bathrooms are currently Accessible Beige too. Pretty much everything but those accent walls.

thank you!
