GE cafe dbl oven range vs. range w/baking drawer
Comments (8)theultimatebikerchic, I'm pasting directly from GE Cafe Q&A page answers given by GE representatives(I doubt that profile range would be any different, but you should look into that yourself) 'The lower large oven offers 9' of usable height and the upper smaller oven offers 5 1/2' of usable height' 'There are a number of functions available for the lower oven (i.e. convection bake, regular bake, convection roast, etc.) but you do the broiling in the upper oven. The lower oven does not have a broil setting so youll want to save the broiling tasks for the upper oven' So if you have something large to broil you're out of luck. Also i've read a number of complaints that the top oven doesn't bake evenly or burns the food (convection is not available) and that both ovens are less functional then one large oven. On the plus side, the heating time is much less and if you are on top of your food, it cooks much faster, and you can multitask a lot. And of course, you cannot beat the way a double oven looks! at the end it's a personal choice please read through all the Q&As in my link Here is a link that might be useful: GE Q&A...See MoreGE profile double oven gas range vs. GE cafe double oven range
Comments (5)I went with the Profile double-oven gas: here are my reasons. I like the smaller-size top oven for daily use, and the lower oven will only be used on occasion, so I'm ok with its location. (There's no room for a wall oven in my tiny kitchen -- and I have no plans to tear out cabinets and rearrange.) I'm a good cook, and I honed my skills on low-end domestic ranges because that's what was available: I don't need a commercial range to cook what I like, and I'm too busy with other aspects of my life to change my cooking style now. I also prefer not to deal with "pro" level BTUS and the ventilation complications they might add. I also am not willing to give up self-cleaning ovens -- which puts many pro-style ranges out of contention. I liked the slide-in setup and the angled control-knob location on the Profile, so that, and the price advantage, led me to choose it over the Cafe. Re: price, I bought mine from a local dealer, and I got the price down a bit by asking them to meet the ajmadison.com price. They didn't quite get there, but I was willing to pay a little extra for local sales/delivery/service reliability. Everyone's situation is a little different, but I found that the Profile slide-in fits best with my kitchen and the way I use it....See MoreGE Cafe or Bosch for induction cooktop, wall ovens, dishwasher, frig?
Comments (41)I have the new Cove dishwasher which is of the SubZero/Wolf family and I am in love with it. It is the best cleaning and quietest dishwasher I have ever owned. I would not recommend the Thermador range/oven (I had the 48" oven/steam oven combo installed November 2019) as the noise from the oven fan is the worst I have ever experienced. It is so loud you can't hold a pleasant conversation in the kitchen while it is running. And it will run for 45-50 minutes after shut-down to properly cool the ovens. Many on Houzz are having the same issue - and I've read some on other boards. We are hoping Thermador comes up with s "fix" for this - because as it is, I am loath to run this oven. I had a DCS 36" range with oven and a half before and am kicking myself for not staying with that brand. My new kitchen also got Dacor side-by-side fridge/freezer towers and they are a DREAM - love them! With the solid glass shelves I never lose or forget about anything in there and the door shelves are nice and deep to hold larger items....See MoreJenn Air vs Kitchen Aid vs GE Cafe Oven
Comments (5)I redid my kitchen 2 years ago and after a ton of research, ended up with Kitchen Aid 30” electric convection wall ovens. I narrowed it down to Kitchen Aid (sister of JennAir) or Bosch and KA had the better warranty. I wanted a workhorse that wasn’t a smart or steam oven and took a poll of all the people I know who really bake a lot and both Kitchen Aid and GE electric wall ovens were the favorites(many in addition to a high end range like Wolf). So far, my ovens have been fantastic—even heat and quiet enough that my husband accidentally left the oven on. They do take about 15-20 minutes to preheat to 400 degrees. I haven’t had any chipping issues but I never use self clean (several appliance guys have independently told me not to, regardless of brand, because you have too high a chance of frying the motherboard). FWIW, I am in the Midwest and have had a DCS gas oven and GE electric oven in the past....See MoreDanyelle Collins
