Have you ever had a rose disappear?
Comments (20)Yes, I've had both blooms taken and, thanfully only once--a potted miniflora; right before mother's day, too. What a lovely sentiment for Mom! "Ma, I love you so much, here's a stolen plant as a token of my appreciation for HOW WELL YOU RAISED ME! I've never had a plant stolen out of the ground, but as for varmints, I have had a number of cats lie on top of young plants and break their canes and new basal growth. It aggravates me for sure, but it's never killed the whole plant. I eventually started sticking little verticle jagged bamboo sticks into the soil in the tops of the pots to discourage them. That seems to "mostly" work. What I haven't figured out is how to keep squirrels from diggin holes in the soil. Any suggestions? Since for the past 8-9 years, I've grown all my roses in pots, after the Mother's Day theft, I started running coated steal cables through holes I've drilled in the pots and connecting all the pots. So someone will either have to plan ahead and bring fairly specialized tools to cut the cables, or break the pots apart and try to carry off the plans sans pot, or bring 3 dozen friends to help them carry all the pots off together, since I lashed the whole garden together, pretty much. That may sound weird, but the way I've arranged it the cables aren't terribly apparent until you try to pick up an individual pot. the cables remain mostly covered in mulch. I know, a determined thief could find a way, but I figure most of the thefts are crimes of convenience (I hope). what's also quite aggravating is people "tearing" rose stems off the bushes, not even bothering to cut them cleanly. I don't mind sharing occasional blooms if people ask, but how thoughtless to damage the whole plant just because you want a pretty flower for a couple days. Mostly I have to count my blessings, though, since I have to grow my roses right out in front where passers by have easy access; that's the only part of my yard with full sun. I'm surprised I've had only 1 plant taken. And the stolen blooms are only a very occasional occurrance....See MoreWould you have/have you had breast augmemtation?
Comments (81)Every life stage has a look that is authentic for each person. It is just silly for a 60yr old grandma to want perky boobs like her teenage grand daughter. Some people really resist progressing to the next stage of life but the body does anyway. I just wish we gain the wisdom to accept our aging bodies. That being said, sometimes people look older or disproportionate in some way that is not suitable to their life. I had a young niece who was slim and athletic but had 38G breasts. Her life had major impact with dealing with those breasts... Or beasts as she would call them. Boy could not see past her boobs neither some of her girls. She could not shop and wear normal clothes. She had to use dressing pads under her breasts to avoid rashes. Breast reduction was medically necessary for her. Another friend decided to do a tummy tuck. She had an emergency c- section with her first child and the cut muscles never recovered. She found it hard to find professional clothes that worked especially as she had a narrower waist and skinny butt. Tummy tuck really changed her life....See MoreHelp! Comments (55)CEFreeman I am buying a Kohler Dickninson 33" single apron front basin sink color sandbar. This is a picture of my perimtier counters (Zodiac quartz) with the color of the sink tab on top, cabinet (off white color) sample and floor tile underneath. My island will be Bianco Antico on cherry. I ordered the sink Monday and was called today because they said it would be 4- weeks delivery time. Oh no no no! The girl called around and said now it will be 2-3 was that ok? Said yes because the white and bisque color sink I could get in 7 days did not look good with the Warm Taupe color quartz. Sandbar looked perfect. Now waiting for them to call with the estimate for the floor and counters. I was wondering what exactly the cabinet maker needs to make the cabinet below the sink. The place I am ordering everything from has the same sink in one of their kitchen displays. Can't he just go there to look at the sink? Someone said they are all different? They are? Shouldn't all the 33" DIckninson sinks measure the same???? This post was edited by sammy62 on Thu, Jan 23, 14 at 23:19...See MoreFavorite built-in features you have...or wish you had :)
Comments (9)I have a mid 30's center hall Colonial built by an architect for his family. Great plenty of storage - good number of kitchen cabinets and drawers; kitchen has a cook top with a bank of slide outs for pots & pans and drawers for utensils, towels, potholders, and one tin-lined for breadstuffs. At some point, I suppose a set of cabinets was sacrificed for the dishwasher. Oven is built in above a large pot drawer; two cabinets above the oven were refitted for a microwave. Above that vertical slotted tray, cookie sheet, turkey roaster shelves. Low rise banquette seating and the seats lift for storage - I tend to "live" there because it seems a cozy place to sit with a cup of coffee, pay bills, read mail. etc. Only problem with it - it's a mid 30's kitchen. People tend to love it, but it could use some updating somewhere. Livingroom is pretty typical - bay window in the back overlooking the gardens; windows and built-in book or display shelves flanking the fireplace, etc. Diningroom has a built in china cabinet. Entry hallway closets have raised floors with lined boot and mitten drawers. Upstairs closets are cedar lined and all have the raised floors with bottom drawers for sweaters, extra linens, etc. Adequate linen closet in the upstairs hall and a nice, deep bathroom closet. Finished basement has a wall of closets, shelves and drawers. Then there's the sauna which has a long tiered bench wall - great place for all those tubs of Christmas decorations. Even though I'm at the "decluttering" stage of life, I'm pretty appreciative for everything that's here - storage wise. There's definitly enough space to really organize and have all of life's stuff neatly put away....See Morecaflowerluver
