Good luck is all I can say If this was the couter you picked at the beginning then you should have had the cabinets done to match nowyou are in a mess .

Oh my. We’re not in a mess quite yet. :) I like the atrium white, but we can still change cabinet color if we want, especially if finding a quartz to match proves too difficult. Remodel doesn’t begin until late October. I definitely want a warm creamy white for both quartz and cabinets, as opposed to cold and bright.

My follow up question is whether there are folks out there who have picked creamy white solid quartz that they’ve liked, along the lines of the white-but-still-warm-and-creaminess of atrium white (and what paint they picked to match that quartz for cabinets). I agree with the thinking that picking the quartz first makes sense, and play with paint color from there since that’s much easier to change.

You really want to avoid an all-white countertop...

Not sure if you’re going with new cabinets or painting your existing, but I would get a sample of the paint you like, paint out a large swatch and then go visiting various counter shops. You have the time and really it’s so much better than people on the internet trying to color and hue match for you. Once you find some samples you like, bring them home and evaluate them in the light of your house

a similar dilemma was posted recently. I think it turned out really lovely, but that poster was trying to go with an all white kitchen too but chose the creamy paint color first and that forced all the other choices

That was a great thread to read. Thanks for sharing it. I totally agree with your thinking, damiarain. I’ve taken my paint sample to the local quartz shop and have found one good possibility (LG Viatera Porcelain white) and am waiting to receive a larger sample from them to consider it further... I think it is a smidge brighter than our paint sample for cabinets, so I need to consider whether that will be an issue. The fact that it is on a horizontal plane and that it has a higher sheen than the cabinet paint makes exact-matching tricky, and I’m not sure that exact-matching is even what we should be striving for...

Finding a subtly creamy solid white quartz (not ivory but not bright white either) has proven a little more difficult than I anticipated! The picture below is the look we’re going for - white cabinets and countertops with soft taupe (matte) backsplash.

mcgoverntheory, why avoid all-white countertop? Just for the practical reasons of showing dirt?

The cabinets in your photo, appear to not be white, but, a very light tint of grayish. The counter looks white. They are not a match at all, on my monitor.

It’s definitely true that the cabinets and countertop in that pic are a little different. Our cabinets will be creamy white, not ivory or gray. The inspiration picture isn’t exact - just gives general sense of solid white countertop, taupe backsplash, and then imagine that the cabinets are whiter than what they appear on your monitor. :)

Main reason for my post is that I’ve yet to find a one-stop-shop for quartz, in terms of many brands and samples in one place. (I’m in Central Indiana if anyone has a suggestion! I’ve checked out solid white options at a couple of places and have really only found one solid white option (the above-mentioned porcelain white) that is creamy/warm rather than bright/cold. If anyone had experienced the same quest as me and had a brand/color to suggest that would help me focus my quartz shopping destinations, that would be awesome!
