chiiiwin, I'm not familiar with scorpion chillies, but many of the 'super hots' have dimpled flesh and highly variable, wonky shapes. From what I've seen, they look fine to me. Yes indeed that's it, and technically they're not really palms though they look like them, but I'd guess that's a special cultivar, which I've not found a photo of before, and I guess that makes it a Panama Hat Palm. Those don't get really big from what I understand at maturity, but I do wonder if the fronds become more divided as the plants age, as most of the photos I've seen of older and larger ones do look like they have divided leaves? I see though , even after seeing it listed by that name on a couple of sites , one site said "may" be a species of Carludovica, and that source wasn't positive, and it also seems there are more than just the one best known species , the "palmata"!

Common lilac (Syringa vulgaris) specifically. It looks to be thriving and will get a lot bigger than it is now, but seems to have plenty of room around it. However since these are pretty much a one note shrub with their fragrant spring flowers being the entire basis for interest in them planting a suitably sized summer flowering clematis to grow up into yours once the lilac is big enough would greatly expand the amount of color being produced by the involved square footage of real estate.

Well, you nailed it dhaven! I do live in the central part of Milwaukee, WI. I know they are in the bigger parks and golf courses, but never in over 36 years have I seen one walking down my street, geez, the way people drive, you can hardly walk down the street yourself! Hahahaha! My husband saw a coyote on the golf course the other day, early eveming. We have racoons always trying to get at cat food on the screen porch and have an occassional possum as well. No rabbits in my yard either because of the cats…….. momma bunnies don’t pick our yard. But squirrels we’ve got! I am thinking they are the most likely candidate. Thanks for your info though! debra
