bathroom tile FAQ's
Comments (64)I changed the entrance of my shower tub. The panel board was moldy; water was getting in between the top tiles and the panel board. the joint was not well sealed. I put new everything for the entrance, even a membrane between the plywood and the tiles. However, it seems to leak from the wall now. Water is coming out of the wall outside the shower tub. Would it be the grout, tiles...? Tiles and grout are probably 20+ yrs old ( turquoise tiles). I tried to put some ready grout ( in a tube), but it still leaks! Calking is well done. Should I remove the old grout and put new one everywhere? Thanks for your help!...See Morehelp with garage to spare room remodel
Comments (50)The window installed is way too small. It also doesnt fit with the rest of the front of your house. Put a decent double window in there, that compliments the front of the house. That way, you do have an escape in case of fire, but, you are adding value to your house at the same time. I would not trust that contractor to come on my property ever again. You could have been out a whole lot of money, and then had to tear everything out and end up with nothing, but, he apparently doesnt care....See MoreNeed bathroom updating
Comments (9)Yes, remove the wallpaper. I'm not sure that I would re-wallpaper because I think it would just really draw attention to the angled ceiling line. I would paint the whole room (including the ceiling) the same light, neutral color. And then when you're ready to re-decorate, remove all of that little crap. You have too much little stuff in there. When you put a bunch of little stuff in a small space, it does the opposite of what you might think .... it makes the space feel smaller. So just focus on a few larger pieces, and by "larger" I mean relative to the space. Having a few keys pieces like a larger mirror and larger light fixtures and one larger piece of art, will give way more impact than a ton of little things that end up just making it look cluttered....See MoreCan this bathroom be reconfigured?
Comments (119)I think if I were you I would start a discussion asking houzzers about their experience with their walk-in shower. You can ask the dimensions and the length of their pony wall and where the faucet is. I am just a bit afraid about having the water spray towards the pony wall with the entrance just beside it. You could also go to stores that design bathrooms and ask for recommendations. You have a possibility to elongate the pony wall to 48" in each shower (maybe even more in the ADU and the bathroom beside the exercise room): - Master bathroom: you can make your linen cabinet 6" narrower (imo, 18" for a bathroom cabinet is fine) and make your shower 6'10.5" long - Bathroom in the ADU: I believe your wall in the kitchen is 9'3.5" total, you can easily make a shower 7'6" long. - Bathroom beside the exercise room: it is already 7'6" long....See MoreMark Bischak, Architect
