Flooring Design Dilemma Bedroom

Current carpet trend

We are in the final stages of updating our master bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom floor is 12x24 tile, and the bedroom will be carpeting. My dilemma is the carpet. What’s popular/trending at this time? I’ve looked at options, but, they all look nice compared to what we currently have. Thought/ideas will be appreciated.

Carpet doesn’t have many fans here, so you’ll probably be told to use wood with area rugs. Carpeting now is very much about the materials, color, pattern and stain resistance. There are lots to choose from and I don’t think “trend” is an issue. I put in a Mohawk low pile, dense plush two years ago that is serving me well. I purchased from a flooring only store and my installer had over 30 years experience. I’m very happy with using carpet for my particular home.

The trend is no wall to wall carpet at all but in a master I can see the reasoning I guess I have not had a client want carpet anywhere for probably 10 yrs for sure.

We have a colonial style home. It is around 3,000 SF. We have a lot of travertine on the main floor (nearly all of the mainfloor with the exception of the greatroom and in all the bathrooms and the floyer is hardwood leading to the staircase (which myhusband wants to rip out and make travertine as well because it is fading from the large window that allows a lot of sun in) Forever carpet....hmmm....how about a long time carpet? 10-15 yrs or so? ;) Our style is really a mix of pottery bar/Restoration hardware look. I have a lot of Arhaus furniture, some henredon furniture. A lor of neutral pieces that I can swap out throw pillows and have the room a different color with a can of paint and new drapes and pillows. When I say "print" I sort of mean that "tone on tone" small pattern as to where you don't quite notice it, but it's there? Link below... Here is a link that might be useful:

What's the current trend on base molding profiles?

You need to pick something that coordinates with the house. What does the rest of the trim look like? A simple 1/6 with an eased edge looks great with shaker doors and simple casings but look ridiculous if you have crown moulding with a dentil and fancy chair rail.

Unusual colors are tricky. They go in and out of fashion super quickly, and you are unlikely to be able to buy replacements when inevitably some of the appliances die a few years later. You also find yourself restricted to a small number of manufacturers. That's not a good thing, as different manufacturers have different strengths. A manufacturer that makes the best fridge might not be the same one that makes the best dishwasher. In general, stainless steel is the safe bet. And white or black is often also a choice, although it seems to be more common with lower-end appliances. If you have the money to spend, then you could also get panel-ready appliances. Then none of this matters and you just make the appliance look the same as all your cabinets. This obviously doesn't work for the range, but you could leave that in stainless steel. And if you spend even more money, you buy really high-end brands. Almost all of them allow for custom-painted steel panels. You tell them exactly which color you want, and that's what they'll custom make for you. But you'll have to pay for the privilege.

OMG, this is why I love my job. Zebra shades, hands down. You get the whole convenience factor attached to roller shades, especially if you go motorized, PLUS as an added benefit, Zebra shades act almost like blinds where you can adjust the panels to modulate the light entering the room as well.

I should have said that we have wood floors in most of home, except for carpeting in bedrooms. I too would prefer wood floor in master, but, our 30 year old wood floors are of the medium oak vintage, and I’m so “over” oak/color. I hesitate to add more of what I dislike, hence probably going to carpet again. I have considered a hard surface floor that would be a mix of wood tones that would compliment the oak hallway leading to that bedroom, but wondered if that could be acceptable. Thoughts?

If you are considering carpet, I would look at Masland. They have a nice range of textured cut and loop options. I prefer 100% wool as it is the most dirt resistant and cleanable.

Personally I like a plush. They are warm and soft on the tootsies. I like nylon because the individual fibers are durable, crush resistant, and non absorbant thus easy to clean. I just use hot water. I don't think there is a trend in carpets. One of the pros of carpeting. It is nether in or out of style. The last trend I remember is the 70s shag. It just depends on what you like.
