Comments (3)I think the plant will survive. I would put it in a smaller pot, though, with some fast draining mix. I would also give it as much light as possible, as it seems you are already trying to do. As much light as you can give it, and little water are keys to success with this. Your can look like mine in a few years...Christopher...See MoreHelp With Jade Plant Care?
Comments (8)Nice score - Christmas comes early to your house this year. Based on the appearance of the soil, you should at least start planning for a complete repot. Since we don't know where you live, when that should take place will remain a short term mystery until more info is forthcoming, but generally mid-Jun is about the best time to repot for most of N America. Until then, you'll need to take steps to avoid over-watering AND the build-up of salts that can occur in the soil resultant of watering in small sips to avoid over-watering. Do you detect the dilemma in what I just mentioned? If you water so you're flushing the soil, you risk over-watering. If you're watering in sips, you risk a salt build-up in the soil ....... so which is best? Until you can get your plant into a medium that ALLOWS you to water to beyond the point of saturation, so you're flushing the soil each time you water, you should flush the soil thoroughly at regular intervals and then take steps to mitigate the impact of a soggy soil by using a little science to remove as much excess water as possible. This doesn't eliminate compaction and the accompanying reduction in aeration, but it will go a long way toward helping you avoid root rot and impaired root function due to soil saturation. Let me know if you're interested in chasing these thoughts a little further, and adopting some practices that will help you deal with the medium the plant is currently in. Comments (7)Hi Albert. Thankyou for your reply :) do you think it was originally a Bonsai or dwarf jade? I have been reading lots about them. It would be nice to turn it into a nice bushy bonsai. i was thinking i should prune it back so it doesn't look so straggely though I wonder how to do this and if it would survive since it is not in good health at present. The trunk is firm and looks healthy though the leaves seem severely dehydrated. Do you have any advice around pruning it? I have read that pinching out the tips encourages the plant to grow brusher however I'm afraid as it's the healthiest part. I'm afraid that it might not survive a severe pruning back which is probably what it needs. I'm a complete novice so the advice is appreciated! Thanks...See MorePlease help my Jade Plant!
Comments (0)Hello everyone, my Jade Plant hasn’t been doing well! Over the summer it started to shrivel up. Here is the info: The green leafed picture is from August when someone told me I should water it less. I started watering it less, but still once a week because it was so hot and dry. Now I haven’t watered it since mid to late November. My mom told me it likes the shade and I just put it in a shady corner about two weeks ago. Now it looks like the reddish picture. -What can I do? Water it more? Stop watering it? Repot it? Take it inside? Does it like shade? also I just repotted it maybe a year ago now...See MoreRelated Professionals
