Going to try to go over to the house today to compare windows to the White dove......sure does look like it would be close. dawnp, thanks for the confidence! I really appreciate it. You wouldn't happen to have any pics of your White Dove??? valinsv, I was thinking along those lines but thought that exact same thing.....that my pic would end up looking like a failed match. I thought BM Dove Wing (OC-18) would be great, but not sure if that's enough contrast. I really don't want to go any darker though. It seems perfect, but I can't help but be nervous. maybe I will get a few sample pots and test it out before I commit. I had considered all the same color, but think that large area needs broken up just a teeny bit. Did you end up painting your furniture? If so, i'd love to see. When I look at the BM color card that includes White Dove and Dove Wing, those shades look like a "grayish beige" to me. Am I correct in thinking that?

@valinsv, thanks for your clarification of how they would work on my doors. But I think this solution still doesn't allow me to open one door up 180* and lay flat against the other, right? And that is how that door is for most of the summer. We open it all the way, then just use the sliding screen door to get in and out (and keep the bugs out.) I don't want to give up that ability, as the door just sticks right out into the room if it's not all the way open or closed. @blondie...I will try today to take a picture of the fabric close-up. It's actaully got reddish and greenish cross-threads, It's not really "pretty" close-up, but it reads a a beautiful beige when you see it. As for the decision, we have leather in the living room, and it does wipe off, but there is absolutely NO coziness factor. No cuddling in with sick kids and lots of blankets--they slide right off. It's cool year round. And the thing I hat e th most is I have to dust it regulaly because everything shows on it--ugh. We also have some of those microfiber ottomans, and those things are a wreck. They always look bad, like they need to be cleaned, b/c someone smooshed banana into it, or wiped a syrupy mouth or a boogary nose on it. And the lines they can draw in them--my sons love to practice their letters on it like a chalkboard! Now, they were not a high-quality, I know, but I'd never get a whole couch in that fabric! I did inherit 2 Fairfield chairs that I love but really need to reupholster, and I think Stainless Steel might do the trick--thanks for the suggestion :)

I painted our paneling about 2 years ago and am so glad I did! I'm not going to be any help on the color, but can help with the actual painting process. You will need to clean with walls with TSP. You can get it at stores such as Home Depot or Lowe's. It's a powder that you mix with water and wipe down the walls (read the instructions for more detail). I then used a primer then put 2 coats of paint on the walls (my paneling was darker than yours). My dh was like musebules, but after I painted, he admitted that it looks so much better. Our paneling wasn't high quality, so I don't feel bad painting it.

decoenthusiaste , ok, I will keep all walls same color. so that way the fireplace is the focus and I will pick out a lighter shade of one of the stones from fire place. BeverlyFLADeziner Thanks for the picture - helps visualize it. So pick something similar to carpaet for walls and do white ceiling, got it. The prior owners had it all painted a cream color - walls and ceiling.
