Insurance Advice

Hello,

So we had a kitchen faucet leak and discovered it a couple of months ago. However, it appears it had been leaking for a long time. We've only been in the home for a couple of years so it could have been like that before we moved in. But, there was no signs of there being a leak or that there was growth.

We finally hired a restoration company to work on our behalf instead of the insurance company's preferred contractor. However, the restoration co we hired is saying they won't remove the containment setup until they get an okay from the insurance to remove the affected materials. This doesn't sound right to us.

Shouldn't the restoration co determine when to take down the containment setup once they reach the numbers they need? Why is it being left up to the insurance co? Is this common? Has anyone been in this situation before?

Any advice is much appreciated.
