Bathroom Backsplash behind Vanity
Comments (3)You're both right! It took us 4 years to decide on a BS for our kitchen, so we just painted the walls with an extra coat of paint, and it was fine. However, since you have such a neutral vanity and mirror, you could really add some punch with a fabulous tile and it wouldn't cost you much. I would just do the few inches between counter and mirror and carry it along the side wall. There are beautiful white textured/embossed/patterned tiles out there that you could really have fun with. Comments (7)happy - definitely don't need MORE room in this bathroom - trying to figure out a better plan with a smaller vanity. I prefer a vanity over a pedestal - need room to store stuff, that's for sure. sweeby, what are ceiling breaks?? Never heard that term before. I'm sure if I go to the library I'll find books that probably have a layout of this kind in it for ideas, but would love to find someone who's dealt with this before and what they've done. You've given some great ideas to look in to. The half wall, between the toilet and the vanity is definitely an option I'll consider. Possibly a door between the toilet/shower and the vanity may be good too. Oh, that floor, it's linoleum, or something like it - coming up in areas - very ugly!!!! ashleysf, as I mentioned above, I think your idea of a door would be good. I don't think a pocket door would go, but when I go tomorrow to look at the house again I'll definitely see if it's an option - I would think a regular door could easily go there, but honestly, I can't remember for sure. I'd like to end the vanity where the 2nd outlet is on that wall (see pic) I think that's long enough. In my current guest bathroom I have a tall floor to almost ceiling cabinet where I store towels and other bathroom related items. It could be a consideration instead of using the existing closet and possibly do something else with that closet area, as I did with my master bathroom linen closet - it's all shelving with decorative stuff on it (when it's clean that is, otherwise, it seems to have become a catch-all!) Any other ideas, as always, are always appreciated and taken in to consideration....See MoreI need a really flat, glossy 4x4 backsplash tile
Comments (10)You might also want to take a look at Designs in Tile--their website is a little discouraging in terms of timing/availability, but they do sell overrun which might work for you. I ordered a sample from them and it is a nice flat old school looking tile. Not cheap, though. I ultimately decided to go with Subway Ceramics (installation scheduled for early April--FINALLY!) One warning about the Iron Gate tile--the tile shop warned me that I wouldn't be able to get the tight grout line I want with those tiles. I think they are handmade or something (and they are lovely), but in any case the tile size (apparently) varies enough that they need a bit thicker grout line. Just in case that is a consideration for you. Here is a link that might be useful: Designs in Tile...See More3cm Bathroom Quartz backsplash advice - Help
Comments (9)you could go as high as you like. some take it up to the mirror, some stop short, some go all the way up. just depends on your design. if your tile comes in some type of liner, edging or bevel, you finish the top w/that. or you could use a Schluter edging strip,,,or the finishing could smooth the top and run a caulking bead. without seeing the tile it's hard to say. some examples. this last one is my own. since I was doing wall mount faucets, I chose to continue my countertop up about 10" or so for my splash. Plus, I had so much going on elsewhere w/the tile, I didn't want additional busy looking tile at the sink w/this counter. He used a thinner depth on it than was on the edging....See Morekimnp31
