Another Mystery Plant

MissSherry

My house is 100 years old, and people have apparently been planting a lot of different things here over the years! Southeast Mississippi natives come up, so do non-natives that previous owners or the neighbors must have planted. I mention the neighbors, because some lilies of Peru have crept under the fence and are now growing here - each flower is making a large seed pod. I'll have cut flowers for some time to come! River birch comes up freely - this plant looks similar, but the leaves are opposite, not alternate like river birch. The only plant that comes to mind is Arrow wood viburnum/V. dentatum, but the leaves aren't glossy like V. dentatum. It came up about ?2 weeks ago, and it's already doubled its size. Any ideas?
