Plantation Shutters, cellular shades or Roman shades?
Comments (14)We also haven’t quite figured out how to decorate so if we go with Roman shades, these shades probably won’t get picked out for another year, probably. It's hard to tell from just one photo, but at least some of your windows are very close to the wall, which would make curtains an odd-looking, difficult choice without adequate room for stacking back the curtains on the side so that they don't cover up too much of the window when the curtains are open. I'd probably go with Roman shades, but definitely decorate the room and live in the house for at least a few months before you decide. Window coverings of any sort aren't cheap....See MoreShade that folds down from the top of windows?
Comments (11)Jay06, thanks for the link. Since my windows are so wide, cordless is not available. I honestly think I can sew the upside down Roman shade or roller shade if I can find an extra long dowel that can support the weight in the middle. I think a wooden dowel would sag, so I am looking for an aluminum rod or a magnet that is 89" long. I found an oval closet rod, but the diameter is a little large. I just need to keep searching....See MoreTop-down Bottom-up Cellular Shades - favorite brands and styles?
Comments (5)@shirlpp Thanks. That's about all I've come up with as well. Beyond NYT Wirecutter, most "best [anything]" sites that come up on the first few pages of Google seem to be referral link sites written by paid per post writers to get as many Amazon and similar referral links on their site as possible, rather than by expert reviewers sharing testing data or personal experience and insight. Even Wirecutter has been going a bit more so that way since being acquired by NYT. I'm hoping some people with experience with multiple brands will chime in here so we can all befit from the discussion....See MoreTop down/bottom up cellular shade in bedroom, two or one shade?
Comments (12)@suedonim75 I was wondering too about @Angel 18432 comment about her doubt anyone would open the window for ventilation because the window is in a porch or lanai. Actually, the roof in the photo is a second story deck. Perhaps @Angel 18432 was expressing doubt about guests opening the wiindow for ventilation because of security concerns, given that the window is located on the ground floor level....See Moretartanmeup
