Help! Rug ideas to tie family room together
Comments (16)Start with a good-sized high-contrast rug like those suggested already. Once you see how that looks, then move on to your other ideas--desk, bar, etc. Grover's idea for a sofa table displaying photos or art work is just great because it opens up the window and curtain space. Going forward, Keep in mind that you have all brown flooring--a "fourth wall"--massive brown sofa, big black TV set, brown table in the niche, and brown coffee table. Enough with the brown! Notice how great your curtains look. Add light pillows or pieces with color or other finishes than brown. Good luck!...See MoreWall art ideas for reading area in family room
Comments (13)There are several designs of faux library wallpaper.I like this one the best, because it is not so dark in hue, overall. If you have suitable wall in your area maybe this would interest you? It offers several coordinating prints on this link too, if you wanted to do a wainscoating on the lower 4 feet of the wall, for instance and than put this up to the ceiling. Hanging a picture such as you have above, on a wallpaper displayed like, this, could be very nice in your area. I have always like the print below, of the Girl with a Book, but if you were to say, display 3 prints, perhaps having one of a child, a parent and a grandparent reading in their own setting, or all outdoors, or all in a setting suitable for their age...you have outdoors above, than maybe a library with a young adult, and than perhaps an office or a porch with a grandparent reading? would be something special in your redecorated room..Enjoy all the ideas that may be shared here .. Nice idea you have for your home. Homes with any library area are very special. https://www.stevesblindsandwallpaper.com/wallpaper/product?pn=X9XGSHPL&ctg=2310 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Design-Toscano-The-Story-Book-1877-Canvas-Replica-Painting-Medium/42194937?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=1957&adid=22222222227039958706&wl0=&wl1=s&wl2=c&wl3=60295960778&wl4=pla-98193286658&wl5=9027324&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=113134737&wl11=online&wl12=42194937&wl13=&veh=sem&gclid=CjwKCAjwmq3kBRB_EiwAJkNDp1LP4-f9s_lRQshJSBs8349vbmfkD5EkRNQevClNBZe2qkfP49NvXhoCkY4QAvD_BwE I don't know why it is so expensive here. I found this print at a Dollar Store in a frame, for like 10 dollars, 25 years ago. It's out there for less, and in smaller sizes, and again if you search, you will find many options of all ages in all setting and styles with a similar theme to the picture you enjoy......See Moreasking for ideas on paint and decor for family room facelift
Comments (10)Taking out the bar to put in a desk area is a great idea. Build in plenty of storage. I would put the tv on the wall to the left of the alcove, where your sofa is currently, and then rotate your seating so you are facing the tv, and the fireplace, with room to walk behind the seating. That leaves room to put more builtin storage in the back corner near the fireplace. You could expand the storage even more by changing your french doors into your living area into a single door, changing the swing so they open into the living area, or removing them completely. That would also lighten the room. I don't mind the half wall going into your kitchen since you have a different level of flooring between the spaces and you need something there. If you put the tv over the fireplace, the room is cut off by the doorway to the living area and the new office, and the length of the room isn't fully utilized....See MoreFamily Room Ideas
Comments (6)I’m out of my league suggesting anything with regard to the fireplace, art, etc, but for sure I think you need some plants. You’ll be amazed at the difference just a few living things can have on a room. Even the brownest of thumbs can grow a snake plant, and peace lilies are also very easy....See Moredreamhomeny
