I like how exterior look. I would not paint the brick. It looks nice.

Do not paint the brick. Do paint the downspouts the color of the brick to make them disappear.

Leave the house be! It’s a GREAT look! The previous owners had great taste. You don’t need to lift your leg and pee all over it to mark it as yours. Add better looking landscape than those sad collection of meatball shrubs and call it good. That ought to keep you occupied and 70K spent instead of 125K spent.

A couple combinations for you:

Here I removed the molding from the top of the second story window. It doesn't seem to belong.

Your house looks beautiful but has to many colors. I would do black windows, door, garage doors feschia all around, bricks, columns and the rest dark gray.

I see four different materials on your house and to me that is rather busy. The different colors on the body and garage doors do not help the matter. To make it cohesive I would paint all the upper floor one color. Even the brick.

Black for shutters.

No shutters over the garage.

Garage doors should match the roof or match the upper story.

I would remove the lower floor shutters to draw more attention to the door.

It does not make sense that one window on your house has a colonial type header. I'd fix that if possible.

The garage doors are meant to be the color of the upper floor.

Landscaping is definitely going to be a focus this summer.

We want to simplify the paint scheme and brighten the landscaping. I’ll be asking for more help in the landscaping forum.

A couple of you have said the garage doors should be the color of the second floor. If we do a sage green (or some other solid) on the house and have black shutters, should the garage doors be black or the house color?

I have always loved browsing these forums...even before Houzz. It’s so great to have knowledgeable and thoughtful people willing to help.

I guess I’m the Outlier- I would paint that brick in a heartbeat. There are too many materials, painting it all one color would tie it together. I would paint the whole body white, you could white wash the brick if you wanted a middle ground.

The best part of the front elevations IMHO is the long gracious approach view from a distance you shared, where there are mature trees, layering, shadow, hide-and-reveal peeks at the house from beyond. That’s a major priceless amenity, not easy to fix unless you have the room and 15+ years to wait for trees to mature. Beyond that IMHO it doesn’t really matter if the (warm) paint hue is gray-green or green-gray or greige with darker shutters, in the big picture and if it already is in good condition I would not change it for the sake of changing things. Your house is layered nicely including the front porch casting a darker shadow for more depth. Yes the porch columns and railings should stay “white“ or whatever the whitish light trim color is for them to read against the rest. Everything else is nitpicking in the big picture.

The nitpicking -

A personal pet peeve is the “wallpaper” brick veneer facing detail on the second story front stopping at the corner and not continuous around the corner. I would either paint the upper floor brick veneer on the front to match the siding to minimize that contrasting corner. Or peel off the brick veneer wallpaper from the upper floor and continue the siding for a “whole” or solid appearance. Since it isn’t “my” house and the market loves brick even if only a facing, and it doesn’t bother you just leave it, not worth it. I would not try to add more brick around the corner. The low brick corners on the garage & on the front porch corner are disguised with tall landscaping & not that obvious.

Since your lot seems deep and generous I would have tried for the garage to be a 90 degree “ell” shape so the garage doors were on the side of the “ell”, & have a parking courtyard for this type of house. At this point the way the front garage doors are painted a darker color is fine.

I tried removing the shutters over the garage, but didn't like it, so I replaced them with wider ones. They still are obviously fake, but their proportion to the window is a little better. Then I painted the vertical siding the same taupe as the shakes. I think the shutters and garage doors are something like urbane bronze.

I don't know which photo is your current status. I would paint the siding and shakes a new color. If it isn't already yellow change the door to a new color too. Other than that, focus on removal of the clumpy shrubbery and a new landscape plan that you can install yourself over time.

German schmear the brick, and change any other siding white to match, then do black garage doors and black shutters and any color front door!

I think there is way too much going on visually between brick, vertical and horizontal siding, lots of colors. The fact that you have that many different textural elements means you can bring it all in on one color, the textures will still pop.

I hope that helps, everyone seems to be against painting brick but it can be life changing! We did it a lot in my last job for real estate, always helped sell houses faster! Just choose colors you like and what feels good everyone is going to come at ya with a million opinions lol!

Annatodd, You can paint the garage doors the shade of green you use on the siding. If you don't like the look you can repaint to match the roof which looks grayish.

I was always told from a high end
Colorist you make garage doors disappear .
However , that was many moons ago .
