Flooring advice

Hello all,

We (family of 3; kid is 5 yrs old; no pets) are embarking on a major remodel of our house - putting in new kitchen, flooring throughout the house, new bathrooms, paint and more.

We have a tight budget, and I am trying to find durable flooring material between $3 - $4 (~3000 sqft home). I have read a lot of discussions comparing hardwood (incl. Engineered) vs laminate vs LVT/WPC/SPC, and am really confused with all the choices and information! :)

I've been told that using LVT (even the really good ones) may not improve the value of the house...so I am considering either Laminate or Engineered Hardwood. I am mainly concerned about the kitchen, and water spills and such. Should I remove LVT/WPC/SPC from my list? What about using Eng. hardwood in the $3-$4 range. Is it going to be durable and long lasting? We plan to live in our house for a few more years at least and are not looking for something cheap and low quality.

Thanks in advance for all the help. Much appreciated!
