It must be fate. I've been on the THS forums since 2002 and have never visited here on the Furniture forum till tonight. I have a Fairmont Designs buffet that I bought last fall. Bought it via the Internet and was scared to death that I'd made mistake. The color is a tad bit redder than I wanted but in every other way, we're very satisfied with the piece. It arrived in perfect condition (from DFN) and the free delivery included set up. And here's the really big coincidence...the bedroom suite you're looking at is the same collection as the buffet I bought :) I'll soon be looking for a master bedroom suite and plan on looking first at Fairmont Designs. Our daughter is moving to the area and looking for a place to purchase just a bed (not mattress) that's good quality (but, of course, not THE most expensive). Anyone familiar with the San Diego area that can point us in the right direction? If not, perhaps some online retailers? Thank you.

Yes, she might get lucky at the Macy's furniture store in Mission Valley. Living Spaces and Jerome's have a large selection. Woodbridge carries brands like Thomasville but not sure if that's in her price range. Room and Board is popular right now but the San Diego store is opening in the fall in the UTC mall so shopping is online or she can drive to Orange County to see items in person. There are dozens of furniture stores along Miramar Road including Ashley. Sometimes you need to stop at each shop along the road and look to see what they have. If the concern is the furniture falling apart I'd suggest she look closely at how the bed is put together on the showroom floor. Some styles are top heavy. I've found that price is not always a good indicator of "quality" when it comes to furniture. I have 22 year old IKEA dressers that I've now moved 4 times and I won't say they look like new but they are solid and the wood veneer is dated but has held up well.

You can order Ikea online and pick it up same day from the store. They collect it for you. (It's called "Click and Collect). Not a lot to handle, and good social distancing with this method. Each item has the box size listed online, so you can figure out whether you can fit it in the car. You can buy mattresses, pillows, beds, EVERYTHING. You can return it within a year if you don't like it. Also, if you're not too far away (so it isn't prohibitive), you can get stuff delivered. Get the kids to help you assemble it all!
