Comments (2)I would think you would need at least (bare minimum) 4 inches behind the washer/dryer as the dryer vent duct is 4 inches in diameter. Or try a Periscope Dryer Duct (link below) to save a few inches. Since the depth you can accept in that space is 30.5" you would need a washer/dryer set to be no grater than 26.5" which may be hard to find for a full sized set. Comments (6)The whole set up with duct going vertically up is insane. Suggestion. MOVE the dryer so that the vent faces a window or anything that goes outside and just lay out the hose so it goes out the window or door, it goes outside. Pull the hose back when you are done, get super flexible hose, proper size. Super flexible so you can do that. Amazon has it Universal Dryer Vent Hose 10 ft 4 inch with 2 Stainless Steel Clamp, Flexible Aluminum Dryer Duct Hose for Tight Space (Silver) That is what I got. I set mine up so that the hose goes out the door, got SICK of lint build up no matter how careful I was, sick of temp fuses blowing and well, I am happy with it. Maybe you should have stuck with the dryer that came with the condo. 4 inches of exhaust into 3 inch duct, no no. Not good. Plus it's going vertically up, which imo is INSANE....See MoreIs this closet big enough for a full sized stacked washer/dryer
Comments (6)I am interested what you find out because former owner had W/D in upstairs hall (kids) bath and we moved it to basement since there was no room to actually store detergent, fold clothes, etc. Now we are remodeling and are struggling to find a place on first or second floor since we know it's better for resale (though we may not be selling for many years) Would it be on the order of $5,000 to run new plumbing into a closet? Is it worth it when we already have the plumbing set up in an alcove in the bathroom? Is it really better to take up MBR closet space than to put in a kids bathroom? There's absolutely nowhere on first floor we can fit a W/D....See Morewasher & dryer spacing
Comments (15)This x 10000 It is something I constantly think about as I consider products that rely on apps. Apps are here today and gone tomorrow. Or if the app isn't updated tomorrow's devices might not work with today's apps. There are a lot of things that could go wrong. But on the flip side the app might be maintained for as long as I own the washer. This is kind of an easy decision because I will get at least a few years of use with the app and perhaps many years of use. If the app goes away the washer will still work just fine for the duration of its life. Contrast this with other devices which are completely dependent on their app and if the app goes away you own a brick. Or a compromised device that can't do as much without its app. Building a connected and automated home these are issues that I am often thinking about....See Morekmasj
