Never do worry about minor blemishes on my Holly. Some more careful person might know what to do. Too my knowledge, each leaf lasts 2 years, so shedding of older, yellowing leaves is typical. Constantly using my blower, on dry days, to get them off the walkway underneath. By Summer all is fine.

I noticed my Sango Kaku didn’t just leaf out this spring but it’s also showing signs of black on some stems. The nursery where I purchased this told me it’s just “winter damage”. I was reassured it’s nothing to worry about and sometimes this variety gets these kinds of markings. It did leaf out fine but I’m concerned this is a disease and on its way to tree heaven… ????

I don't, though very possibly your dahlia will grow out of this and later perform normally, time will tell !!
