had a little spree

at a local fair, buying a cistus (nothing special, just c.corbariensis), salvia Amistad (my former plant failed to survive some dodgy drainage) and naturally, because everything was ridiculously cheap, I bought a handful of thymes, hyssop, a couple of oreganos. I had already colonised the end of one of the vegetable rows with retro annuals (gyp, vaccaria, flax) so hey, a wave of my trowel and I have a little 'Mediterranean' stylee arrangement. Potentially harmonious and cute and totally unlike my usual unscheduled and wayward planting efforts which mainly consists of 'find any space' as the sole consideration (including, tragically, questions of size).

Now I am thinking, I will probably have to move the cistus another foot or so as the nearby bay tree is of behemoth proportions and I would like to avoid more of the usual crawling involved in accessing many places in my garden (often under prickly roses, too).
