Is my indoor fiddle leaf fig branching on its own?

I've noticed that my ~3 ft tall fiddle leaf fig tree has slowed down on producing new top leaves during this springtime season which is a little unusual. After inspecting it for a couple of weeks, I've noticed two long growths coming from the middle of the trunk. (Photos below.) Are these...new branches? Or maybe just part of the process of thickening its trunk? I haven't pruned, notched or nipped off any buds from this little guy. I've just watered him when needed and added some fertilizer when springtime started. This plant lives next to a 5ft tall fiddle leaf fig that I did cut the top off of and that one is starting to branch out in 5 new places. Not sure if one tree that's branching could influence a neighbor tree, seems like a stretch just not sure what this new growth means. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! :)
