Best warm neutral Gray or Greige paint?
Comments (48)@Lori A. Sawaya I really have to thank you. Your questioning why the builder is so strict about only using SW colors motivated me to ask again. I explained that SW has the color-match formulas in their system, nationwide, etc. The home builder salesman I had been dealing with had never had anyone ask to color match & investigated further. I can color match! Also, I did get a SW sample of Behr Silver Drop. I had asked for a quart in a flat finish as that is what the builder will paint with. Miscommunication & I ended up with a jug of Silver Drop in the SW satin sample paint & a can of Silver Drop in a SW (Superpaint) flat finish. Three drywall boards of Silver Drop & 3 different colors. The salesman at SW had told me that the lighter color samples that use Extra White as the base are usually very slightly lighter than the regular paint. I'm going to continue my search & check out BM colors. I so enjoy your posts. We are very lucky that you so generously share your knowledge & expertise....See MoreAssistance requested for Vanity Mistake
Comments (14)kgwlisa and lyfia, Thank you so much for your words of encouragement about shaker style and stained maple. The photos from lyfia opened up a whole new world. I never even thought about using cup bins and I can see what a huge difference it makes. I saw some at the Notting Hill site that would work perfect. I will try to take a photo today. I'm sure it would help. The color I selected for the vanity is not vintage at all. I tried going back in my memory as to what I possibly could have been thinking and then the light bulb came on. Originally, the bathroom was going to have an ordinary window and the leaded glass was going in the master bath. Then, I realized more people would see it in the guest/hall bath so I switched them and put the leaded glass window in the guest bath and of course, switched my theme for that room to vintage/victorian. Oh well, your suggestions have been great and I am starting to feel this is salvageable. The wall tile is not in yet--only the floor basket weave tile. My tile person found this at a great price and I was surprised at how much I liked it installed. Interestingly, I had the sample with me for awhile, and when I mentioned I needed to get it back to her, she said no hurry, it's pretty unusual so no one has had an interest in anything remotely similar! Comments (13)Geige is an incredibly broad term. It is like saying green. Lime Green or Forest Green, Teal or Emerald. Here is a list of a variety of Greige colors by Benjamin Moore Abalone Ashford Greige Ashley Gray Balboa Mist Broxburn Greige Collingwood Edgecomb Gray Gettysburg Gray Mineral Mortar Pale Oak Revere Pewter Shale Go into your local Benjamin Moore dealer and ask for paper samples of all of these colors. Pick a few dozen more that are in the same families. Take your samples outside on a sunny day, lay your flooring, countertop and cabinet samples on a white sheet and lay the paper samples of each of the above colors next to the samples. Note what you like and don't like. If you can find the right color you can always pick something a bit lighter or darker, but getting the rigjht mix of brown and gray and the right undertone is something that you will need to do with your samples. If you can come close and say, I like this a lot, but it seems just a bit too blue we will be able to offer a lot more assistance....See MorePaint sample craziness- Gray, Beige, Greige?
Comments (20)Yes. We have a unit vacating on the 31st and I just paid for another 5 gallons of D of M. D of M belongs to the middle of the Yellow hue family. (see the Colorography) When some yellows (most yellows) get darker and grayer they looker greener. It's not always noticeable, however. It's more like there are moments of greeness not necessarily an inherent sense of greeness. Personally, like that edge of greeness because to me it reads fresh and clean. What all that means is classic color theories apply. Colors that go with yellow and green will go with D of M and colors that don't, won't. Drift of Mist Colorography....See Morepatchdoodle
