Paint Design Dilemma Kitchens

Requesting your assistance for Greige warm paint color w/o green/blue

I have Pink, tan, yellowish brown orangish and Gray kitchen tile, the pink is dominant. I am trying to neutralize it. Pics are of the tile floor, backsplash and counter color. My kitchen cabinets are white.

I have tried several colors and though I like Agreeable Gray and Revere Pewter both look pink/purple on my painted poster board test. This will make my fourth trip to get samples and it is not fun any more. The painters are soon to get their other job completed, therefore I am running out of time.

I really dislike this tile floor !!!!

Try BM Edgecomb Gray. We just painted our home in it and I'm thrilled - a true beige/gray without undertones.

I used Eider White and it might be too pale for you, but it seems to have no pink in it at all. Would a lighter tone have a better impact for you?

Watch out for trying to mix cool grays with warm oak. Small amounts work OK. A gray backsplash would have gone with my countertops - but would have been drab with my warm wood. Warm wood tones and cool grays do not bring out the best in each other which is why the gray is usually paired with white. Gray is a bit overused right now which means it risks being labeled "dated" in the next 10 years though it will always be an important neutral - like cream and beige. Go ahead and try it in wall color that can be easily changed but be careful of using too much in more permanent surfaces. The grays in your countertop read warm which is why it is working with your cabinets. Consider your wall color last as it is the least permanent surface and easy to change.

JD, that post was in response to Beth's comment about not wanting to work in the dark. She seems to be conflating color temperature with lumen output. I don't disagree with your comments that cooler lamps are more stimulating. After experimenting with cooler LEDs in my living room, I found that I was staying up later and having a hard time falling asleep, and ended up going back to warmer (but equally bright!) lamps. I'm not lobbying for warmer lamps (for the OP or anyone else), but since the OP was set in her choice to satisfy her husband's preferences, I didn't think that inaccurate characterizations of warmer lamps as being "dark" was terribly helpful.

Well shoot. Having just said that, but looking at your last picture, I think the cream in the cabs and the white in the baseboard are fighting. :( Do you like it overall? Like when you stand back and look at it as a whole, does it look good? Because that's more important than a close-up picture. I definitely get the stress of picking colors. I was pretty nuts when I did it. Not only did I test a million, but I made a speadsheet and made notes for each color at each time/light source I tested. Sometimes it seemed like overkill, but when Snowfall White appeared as an obvious winner (all rated "good" or "very good" for each category), I was happy with the process. I was trying to match it with Glacier White Corian, and it seemed harder than it should have been. My designer hadn't done much with Corian, so she didn't have a go-to white.

Yes. We have a unit vacating on the 31st and I just paid for another 5 gallons of D of M. D of M belongs to the middle of the Yellow hue family. (see the Colorography) When some yellows (most yellows) get darker and grayer they looker greener. It's not always noticeable, however. It's more like there are moments of greeness not necessarily an inherent sense of greeness. Personally, like that edge of greeness because to me it reads fresh and clean. What all that means is classic color theories apply. Colors that go with yellow and green will go with D of M and colors that don't, won't. Drift of Mist Colorography.

Not sure as the room has the most light,it may wash out to a white. Thank you for your suggestion :-) I will take a look at it.

I agree with the BM Edgecomb Grey - very versatile! But be sure to get it from a BM dealer!

My favorite paint from my paint store is California Ultra Kitchen & Bath, eggshell finish.

wool skein by Sherwin Williams has worked for me with a similar scenario. I Had them formulate it 25% less intensity. It plays warm and cool ...depending on light/time of day/surrounding elements. It' s versatile and neutral

Try BM Pale Oak. Looks different in every room, but it has worked in every room I've tried it! Good luck. You can't tell without trying a color, so I'm glad you're going through the process. It's worth it to get it right.

Agree with trying Pale Oak. You might also look at BM Winds Breath.

Sometimes decorating around what is often a "design mistake" is a 2nd mistake. If one does not like the first mistake, the 2nd won't somehow neutralize it. I once had a client who carpeted the entire, LARGE first floor of her house with rust, somewhat "shady" wool carpet. A VERY expensive mistake and one she should not have tried to decorate around. She finally gave in and had it taken up, to her husband's great chagrin. A mistake is a mistake.

I'd save my money and replace those floors before doing anything else.

I think after the new roof and exterior paint I will have to place an area rug during staging if needed. Thank you though for your advice but no way am I busting out the kitchen tile or this Koi pond in the middle of the living room LOL :
