We purchased the Hemnes in black ~ 6-7 years ago. Love the storage drawers and the fact that it can expand to a double. (We only ever use it as a single, though, and use a TempurPedic mattress.) No problems whatsoever -- it's used daily.

I deleted my comment, toyed around with it in IKEA's website and realized that if I moved the stove to the fridge wall I'd have to get rid of my lower cabinet and add 2 12's.... Not nearly as functional. There would be a plus to being able to see into the living room, but the negative is that I would always be in the way when I'm cooking. Our fridge can't go into the corner because of our heater, even beside the window is out because of that. I think I'm just going to be stuck with some filler pieces. At the end of the day, it'll be 1000x more functional than it is now. I do think that I'm going to move the microwave beside the fridge, and put a nice hood over my range. Will just have to adjust the height of my cabinets on the basement wall. ETA: Weird question... if I use 20 inch cabinets above the microwave, can I line up the bottom of that cabinet with the bottom of the fridge cabinet and have them at different heights? I can't find a taller fridge cabinet.... is there one? Kitchen with hood

What is the Maven's website and how would I reach it to ask anything? Don't have much luck calling Ikea, especially on weekends when a caller can diligently work their way thru the phone maze only to finally reach a recording that says they are too busy, call back later. For those who really must know.....we already bought the bed. It was from CL, so it is not this year's version, and who knows how old it is. It is too low for the underbed storage bins someone gave us, which seem to be the ones intended for some version of the Malm bed....so yeah, you could call us trolls trying to make sense of the world.

That looks really nice. I have a guest room that doesn't have a closet. In there right now is a big, heavy wardrobe type thingy that takes up too much space. You've got me thinking about getting rid of that and replacing it with the rack. I like how you rearranged the room. Everything fits nicely without looking over crowded. Now that I've seen the rack, I'm not sure that you need to hide it. Some nice rectangular baskets on top for storage of light things like scarves/gloves, etc., might be all it needs. Then a nice piece of artwork on the wall as suggested by someone else and you'd be all set.
