Comments (19)if you look in the hosta forum.. you will find that maples are the most hated trees to grow under ... it is a super competitor for water.. and will choke out.. most of anything but the most aggressive 'weed' plants ... bishops weed is one of those ... able to grow and thrive where nothing else will i would suggest you observe this year ... and make a decision in fall ... i wouldnt want you destroying perhaps your only option. only to find.. nothing else will grow there ... btw .. that doesnt look like norway maple bark ....???? but if you do decide you want to go in another direction ... do NOT dig that stuff up ... kill it with spray ... every severed maple root.. will be replaced by 2 or 3 new water sucking roots ... making the problem even worse ... trust me.. been there.. done that ... this just might be .. the perfect application of bishop weed... which actually.. hated as it is.. a nice looking plant .... the right place.. for the right plant.... ken...See MoreHelp ID tree seedling?
