please help with granite selection for cherry kitchen
Comments (11)I love granite the natural beauty of stone. It has been a fantastic surface. I would do it all over again. Your choices are beautiful! I lean toward the European Gold but I would have to see the entire slab. Can you get a pick of the slab? Are you able to choose your own slab? Template? What kind of edge are you thinking of? Check out the link to the Granite Checklist. You may have already read it but if not it is really helpful. And I have some pictures of Cherry with golden granites but not the Euro Gold. Keep in mind granite names change a bit from different parts of the country and depending where they were taken from. . I hope they help you visulize. I do think the Euro Gold is the one though. ~boxer Golden Persa by Colvin Golden Sun by Delaware Granite Golden Wave by Dimensional Stone Golden Beaches Golden Wave Butterfly Gold (Makes me think of Euro Gold) Santa Cecilia by Missouri Max Marble Santa Cecilia Here is a link that might be useful: Stone Information and Advice (& Checklists)...See MorePlease Help with White Kitchen Color Selection
Comments (36)Lee, yes I used my old boxes, and replaced doors and drawer fronts. Cabinet doors cost aprox 1,300 (with slow closing hinges). I was the GC (had practice with small BR), my painter did the sanding/priming/painting of boxes (also had to do same for my walls which had textured paint). I hired a contractor who was also able to do wood work for me, I had cabinet above cooktop raised for microwave, and pushed out cabinet over refrigerator, also had (something I would recommend) drawer made for under cooktop, and pullout for sponges, he put on my hardware, and did tile work. Contractor also installed my floor and all kitchen appliances. Electrician did additional lighting, under counter lighting, and outlet for microwave. Total cost of kitchen was 14,000 (not including appliances). When I priced gutting my kitchen (leaving sofits), cost was 20,000, price without all the extras. Before starting kitchen I thought price was going to be 10,000. The only thing I didnâÂÂt purchase before was the BSâ¦.needed to see granite and cabinets together, but since kitchen took almost 6 weeks to complete I had time. I shopped for fabricator both by price and recommendations. The only person I would never use again was the contractor, who did excellent work, but was difficult to deal with. I knew what I wanted, shed many tears, but am very happy with my new kitchen. (I will look for manufacturer of doors if you want it). debrak2008 the wall hanging is old tin ceiling tiles. This site may help. I was lucky I found it mounted at a flea market, but they can be put together to make art work by mounting on wood. http://dishfunctionaldesigns.blogspot.com/2012/05/embossed-tin-ceiling-tiles-recycled.html...See MorePlease help me select a kitchen backsplash
Comments (0)Hi, I need help with my kitchen backsplash. Its a transitional to contemporary style home currently under construction. The cabinets will be omega white uppers and smokey grey lowers. CS London Grey countertop. Here are two backsplash choices I have so far. 1) The flooring we have selected is seen in above pic. (and) 2) I am also open to other suggestions. I initially considered glass sheet, but those are not going to work well behind my cooktop. I also do not like subway tiles. Prefer minimal grout lines. The tile in the second pic- the tile would go all the way from the countertop to the bottom of the uppers- so I won't have any horizontal grout lines. I don't like the backsplash looking too busy. Do you guys have any suggestions for me? I am finding this super hard and I think my brain is fried after all the decisions making thus far! TIA....See MoreHelp me please with wall color selection
Comments (1)I love colors like Healing Aloe BM for a good combo between woods and just enough color for contrast with white trim It is a very neutral color for sure....See MoreBeth H. :
