susanjn, the question was in another post so I thought I would start a new post to have a title that indicates that a picture is finally being sent of the support pole I keep mentioning. I wanted to know if the pole needed another coat of paint since to me it does not look white like it should being that it was painted the same white as the trim. The painter wrote me back and told me he will do a brighter white on the pole and see if it covers the grayish color so my pole will look white when he comes back from vacation and then will finish my floor since he also does floors and I do not want the former flooring guy to finish my floor knowing he was leaving too much space between the boards and not making me happy. Thanks ajsmama for your post. I really like how the filing cabinets look with the wall color and I like that I now do not see gray in the back wall like I did with the Linen White color that was lemon in the front of the room and gray in the back of the room as it reflected off the cabinet color. I was very worried about the paint color but it turned out better than expected. I am starting to like the soft white on the trim but want the pole to have another coat of paint and to make sure it looks white. I can't wait to post pictures when my floor is done which appears to be next Saturday if all goes well. I wish the new floor guy would finish the floor in the next few days but I guess he is busy.

I'm keeping the material on my couch until I replace all furniture, but that won't be till next year. Yes, I want to replace those valances, don't like them anymore. the whole house is sorta country theme...it's placed on 26 acres, those windows overlook the acreage/pond/our horses. It's a living room w/TV. Thanks for quick the reply! I do not receive clients in the room, so I don't need any other chairs. I was contemplating a small chair with an ottoman for reading, but haven't decided yet. The window on the right in my pictures looks out to the backyard, the window on the left looks out to my neighbors. The office is on the second floor. Nothing will distract me, I enjoy glancing out at the windows and the birds. I'm going to add light filtering shades in case the glare gets too bad. I'd like to avoid being in a position where they need to be down all the time because of glare since I like looking out the window so much. The second desk will double as my drawing space and for my makeup. So, I will be reaching for it on a semi-regularly basis.

The whole hang it to the ceiling thing really depends on the room. Back in the day we used valances. Hanging a valance up to the ceiling hit the rod and gave one the illusion the windows go to the ceiling. You didn't see the gap between the casing and the ceiling. W/o the valance there is no kidding anyone. If your ceilings are sooo tall it tempts you to hang art above the window casing and below the rod then you have hung the curtains too high!! Because you have less space not more between the door and the ceiling I think it would look fine to hang the rod high. It's about how weird the gap between the casing and rod look!!!! Most sliding doors work best when you stack the open curtain all to the side of the immoveable pane. With your little wall space this will cover most of that glass. Do you need more light than that during the day? That's a much bigger issue to consider than how high to hand your rod.
