It used to be...Decoration Day,

My family was in the retail floral business and for several days prior to this holiday (it changed through the years, it was a fixed date!), we young uns would have to spend many hours wandering through the cemetery to find places to properly place flowers.

We had maps, as the those same families usually wanted 'grave blankets' placed, but it was still an ordeal.

Then, Decoration Day became Memorial Day and it all changed.

The family weekend at the riverhouse included crafts that commemorate the holiday.
