Bidet seat expected life?

We bought our first bidet seat, a Brondell Swash 1000, just shy of 4 years ago. It started having problems intermittently about 5 months ago. It will start beeping and the only way to “fix” it temporarily is to unplug for awhile, and then you may or may not go without the problem for awhile, but it’s pretty much not working most of the time now. Thank goodness it’s not leaking. It’s outside of their limited 3 year warranty, and we’ve talked to them to troubleshoot but it’s down to sending it back in at our cost for repair and I’ve read mixed results on reviews on that. At this point we’re hesitant to sink more into a $500+ toilet seat that we feel shouldn’t die after 3 years. It was amazing while it lasted and we are researching a replacement. Do we have unrealistic expectations of how long these should last? Is it better to go with the seat mounted controls vs a remote in case that’s where the issue is? Tankless vs tank vs hybrid? I’ve read reviews online and some have said they’ve had a TOTO for 10 years but no mention of model, and they do have several levels. Any longtime experience or guidance?
