Comments (14)thanks so much for all your compliments. There really are flaws, but if you don't see them, then I am not telling ...lol I am so angry at myself for not taking before pictures. My original bath was SMALL, like 6 by 8. We took out a bedroom. (It was a spare bedroom, that we never used except to store crap. We still have 2 extra bedrooms upstairs, besides our master. We are empty nesters, and even when the kids come home, we have plenty of sleeping room, just not enough bath space for eveyone to get ready at once. We also took out a chimney that was no longer needed, but thankfully we were able to keep the laundry shoot! Our new bath size is approx. 12 by 22. We also went into the top of the stairs landing space for some extra space. Which meant redo of the upstairs landing area. The paint color was bought at a local hardware store, and it is Valspar-sentimental yellow. I had chips behind those mirrors during the whole process, making sure of the color in different light, and after going back and forth way too many times, finally decided on the sentimental yellow. There are shower tiles facing the shower door. All subways with a green trim border closer to the top. I hope I answered eveyones questions. Again thanks for all the compliments, my husband will be proud....See Morefinished bath renovation
Comments (18)Thank you for all of the kind comments. I was negligent in my original post for not acknowledging the hundreds of posters who helped me throughout the entire process. This forum is a great resource and made the project (our first bath remodel) much easier. I hope I cover all of the questions here. The train rack and magazine/paper holder are both from Pottery Barn, "Mercer" line. The BainUltra air tub is the Thallassa 60. I was tired of not fitting (I'm 6'1") in our old 60" tub so the 72" Thallassa was an easy choice. Many of the 6' tubs are 36" wide, the Thallassa is only 33" so it doesn't eat up the entire room and is plenty roomy. We love it. The walls are Benjamin Moore "Montgomery White" (HC-33). The name is deceiving, it's really a very pale yellow, nothing white about it. As for DIY? None of it, other than design. I have many skills, home renovation isn't one of them. I fortunately have a contractor who did every phase of the project, rip out, carpentry, electric, plumbing, tile and paint. I purchased all of the material except for the stuff behind the walls. Looking forward to starting our downstairs half-bath!...See MoreFinished Master Bathroom Renovation
Comments (30)ysop1016, Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking. There wasn't a choice of colors in 02 when I bought one for the kitchen. Guess I was thinking of the light tiles. Corrine said I could change out the plates if I wanted. I want, I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. roselvr, yes, that was me. I had my heart set on the "Sea Tones" tiles but considered the "Earth Tones" set as well. Both are beautiful and I would have been happy with both but I wanted to go with my heart and the vision I'd had for two years. You were able to SEE the wedding album? Oh, that must be my niece's album. I had to password protect my daughter's wedding album because some sexually explicit comments. mitchdesj, leave the bathroom? You mean I'm supposed to leave it after all that hard work? (lol) I have no decorating talent. I'll just have to wait till I'm out somewhere and "stumble" upon something. Trying to keep stuff off the counter tho. Whatever I do I want to keep it to a minimum and mostly natural materials and glass for sparkle. "I don't get the Washlet" (sigh) SOME people! (lol) chicoryflower, the dryer is the one feature that really doesn't work too well. I guess it would if you were willing to sit there long enough but I don't use it. All the other features are great and work very well. Thanks again for the wonderful comments :) Monica...See MoreNeed backsplash help to finish endless kitchen renovation
Comments (16)I admit to having a soft spot for tea cups and pretty china - and English cottages. I love blue and used to have light blue countertops:) I understand your dilemma because while I love blue, I am hesitant to add it in permanent surfaces. However, if I had a white kitchen - I would consider a light blue backsplash or with some blue - probably, maybe:) I have always liked this kitchen so I think a blue in your style could be very pretty. I am not recommending a blue this dark (it almost looks a blue gray) - just that blue works well with wood and white. The tone of this wood is not quite the same as yours: If you do consider a blue, consider also the color of your hutch and any other colorful pieces in the kitchen. Crackle tile has some special installation requirement I believe - thought I read that on the forum. If you go that direction, make sure your tile guy knows his stuff. This pic comes from this thread: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/2817825/scrappy25-renovation-part-4-final-reveal-white-inset-soapstone I thought it gave a sense of what a smallish, subdued pattern tile might look like, though the pattern is larger. I actually like this a little better than the blue in the first picture I posted. The backsplash is Saltillo Sunflower Ming Green. I think I like the Winchester tiles a bit more - but I haven't seen them in a done backsplash:...See MoreUser
