counter-depth refrigerators: most don't seem to be counter depth.

What are the most reliable counter-depth fridges these days?
Comments (18)I have a Jenn-Air french door, counter depth. It's about 4-5 years old. I can't remember the height (68 or so inches I'm guessing) but it's almost the largest they made at the time other than the sub-zero size. I wish I had held out for another brand, but I wanted the model with the ice and filtered water dispenser in the door as I am a total water drinker, as in all.the.time, so it's an important feature for me. At the time, KA and JA were about the only brands with this feature. Now there are several. My old refrig died and this one was in stock; I would have had to wait almost 2 weeks for the KA. I should have stuck it out. This thing has cold spots leading to ice chunks in the milk. Several times a year I have soggy, frozen lettuce in the crisper. Those may have been due to an inadvertent movement of the crisper setting but I don't think so. I think the dang refrigerator just ices up and thaws at random. Sometimes we have to take the ice maker out and shake it to get the ice to dispense. It's a wimpy size ice maker too, so I'm glad I don't rely on it for large amounts of ice....See More28" counter...counter depth fridge or full size???
Comments (3)How deep is the Case of the refrigerator? That is meant to line up with the edge of the counters typically so the doors stand in front of the counter edge and have room to swing without impingement on the countertop. You may need to pull this forward to have adequate doorswing. Do they make a model that has a case of about 28" with door thickness adding a few inches bringing it to 32 or so? The other issue that you should check is that counterdepth need significantly less airspace around them, because they are insulated and ventilated a bit differently than a full depth fridge....See MoreIntegrated fridge depth next to counter top
Comments (7)I too have the same concern, we did Thermador integrated panel ready, the contractor has part of the box constructed and the framing for the fridge is flush with the lower cabinet, the fridge is at the end of a 36 inch cabinet/counter run, and I'm worried that the countertop is going to stick out past the panel fridge doors? We really wanted that seamless look, but I'm worried our cabinet guy didn't factor in clearance for the counter overhang? will it look weird for the countertop do be proud of the panel fridge door, or will the panel/door hinge help factor in that 3/4 inch of countertop, I'm fine if it's flush, but I'm worried it won't be? The fridge is the end piece on that wall, so it might not look weird...but??? Any advice? Worst case scenario we make them redo the framing for the fridge to be flush with counter?...See MoreDepth of panels for counter-depth refrigerator?
Comments (38)Seeing your whole layout, I can understand why the refrigerator isn’t on the end of the run. Do you have a plan and purpose for that isolated stretch of counter? Would it be better to move the other tall cabinet up against the refrigerator and leave the counter on the end? When I see those types of counters separated from other kitchen functions, my mind always goes to a coffee/beverage center. A microwave there might be nice for snacks and reheating things from the refrigerator. A bar sink would be great for getting drinks, and making coffee without entering the kitchen and interfering with the cook. Sorry to to mess up your thread with these comments if you’ve already thought all this through....See MoreDiana Bier Interiors, LLC
