Nutgrass/Nutsedge.

I thought the triangular cross section of the stems would be a little more pronounced on nutsedge. The blades coming out of the flowering part do look like nutsedge now that you mention it

I can’t tell if it’s Cyperus retrorsus or just the common yellow nutsedge (or some other). I’ve never had the first one, but plenty of the yellow and purple ones.

It's not the nutsedge that I've got, and the flower looks more like a true sedge than the dreadful nutsedge. I hope Floral sees this and gives an opinion.

The flowers are not that of yellow nutsedge, Cyperus esculentus. It does look like a different species though. As for the triangular cross section, you will see it better if you cut through the stem, as opposed to a leaf, as shown in the screenshot below.

Floral doesn't do grasses or sedges ;-) Haven't a clue!

I have to say Im pleasantly surprised its an actual Carex. I was trying to pull another stalk to take pictures, but the plant's poison ivy companion was a pretty good deterrent.
