Weird blooms on David Austin Boscobel rose
Comments (5)It doesn't look like insect damage close up, I did have them sprayed a few weeks ago for aphids and had to cut them down a bit (but they were mostly on the older bushes). I didn't spray Roundup, although I have a landscaper that may have (but I doubt it)... it does look closest to that kind of damage though after a quick google search. It is a bit weird as it is only most of the plant that's affected... there are one or two canes that look normal on one side of it, and then the rest is growing in looking weird and... frizzy, for lack of a better word! Doesn't look like rose rosette and no white mildew... also this bush is right next to the two healthy ones, I just planted them all this year as bare root roses. Could it be something toxic in the soil just right in that spot?? paulieinct, did your rose come back from the roundup damage?...See MoreA bouquet of David Austin roses picked for Mother's Day.
Comments (10)Catflowerlover, what a gorgeous bouquet that really shows your rose varieties. I about fell off my chair at the 60 blooms on your Boscobel. How big is he? That's a huge production for Munstead Wood, too, since it takes a lot of rose energy to produce those heavy, petal packed blooms. Nothing is blooming here yet--a terribly late spring. Comments (45)Helen, I’m a little confused about Boscobel. When I ordered mine, I ordered it potted, because I wanted it ownroot. Now, when I go to DA’s site Boscobel says nothing about being ownroot anymore. I’m almost certain what I ordered was supposed to be ownroot. I don’t always trust myself, because my MS messes up my short term memory terribly. It’s getting later and later in the season for planting for me. If there’s a very long wait for my potted Boscobel, and the bareroots are supposed to be ownroot, I’d rather switch and take the bareroot now. I know I need to call them, but I’m wondering about them telling you Boscobel was ownroot and it appears to be grafted. I definitely want ownroot. It doesn’t really matter to me whether it’s bareroot or potted. I’m hoping you, or someone can confirm that it WAS listed as ownroot, previously. I don’t 100% trust my memory, and hate making a fool of myself(again) by insisting on something that I’m not remembering correctly. Thanks to anyone that can shed some light on this before I call DA:) Lisa...See MoreBoscobel potted david austin Blackspot
Comments (4)A leafed out rose trapped in a warm, stuffy shipping box can easily develop blackspot I grow three 'Boscobel' and they are extremely healthy It reads that you are saying the plant becomes infected while inside a box - with there having been no black spot present before the plant was boxed up - and that the fungus also develops to the point of being fully manifested and visible during the mere days it takes to ship the box. I wonder how this is possible....See Moredianela7analabama
