A coulple of silly questions: Bee Balm, Veronica, Russian Sage
Comments (7)Hello carol6ma and digginthedirt! Thanks for your feedback. Diggin, the situation is a disappointment! Well said. So, I think you may be on to something when you mention the soil prep. I probably didn't do much other than dig a 2ft x 2ft hole and like I mentioned, threw some compost, and usually a little bone meal if I have it on hand. Yes, the bee balm and veronica are in a bed and most everything else in it is happy. That would include, some day lilies, several Clematis, a rose, a lace cap Hydrangea, Rudebekia, Phlox, Obedient Plant and Lupine. Although, I did have a Shasta Daisy and a Penstemon that didnt make it past season one. I'm thinking drainage may be my issue. If that is the case, could I dig up the bee balm, and sort of "fix" the hole with sand and more rocks, and replant? Same with the Veronica? I really like both of those plants, so I'm hoping to find a solution to keep them. But to be honest, I dont really notice clay in my soil and usually find that it is rich, brown and full of fist sized rocks. (that are quite difficult to remove!) As for the Russian Sage, it is located at the top of the hill in our pool area, which I imagine was created when all the dirt was removed from the hole dug for the pool. Its quite dry up there, and has been a challenge for me to grow much, except for Tiger Lilies. My mom politely reminded me that they'll grow in an empty ditch...so that doesn't say much. That is why I added the compost when planting the sage. But perhaps its a matter of right plant, wrong spot. I will send off a soil sample as you suggested. I imagine it will offer some great insight to my dilemna(s)! Thanks again, Tulipsmiles Thanks again to you both!...See MoreIs this a silly question?
Comments (11)I've been thinking about this a little after my original contribution. I still stand by the post. If you are greatly concerned about password hijacking why not just handwrite the passwords and store them however you wish. There is no band of marauders going up and down the street breaking into homes stealing passwords. The key would be to identify to what they belong to, but do not include any user names or account numbers with the passwords. Sites readily have the policy of sending your user name to your registered e-mail address if you forget. A forgotten password concern varies from site to site with different approaches. I share with you now that I have all my passwords, two pages worth, in a binder here on my computer desk. The non-financial even include the user names. I haven't lost a night's sleep over it yet. Mikie, I agree whole heartedly with you. Security and the steps you take to protect yourself are important. However, I do get a little tired of the " big brother" and the "sky is falling" mentalities. DA...See MoreSilly, basic question about gas oven with infrared broiler
Comments (11)I've just started using a BS 24" range. The broiler is only about 7" X 10" with the longer dimension side to side. So you have to be conscious of where your food is on the rack. I don't know if larger sizes have bigger elements or not. The heat is intense. If I put the rack on the top position and use the broiler pan that came with the stove a steak starts to char on the top 20 or 30 seconds after I put it in. The first one I tried caught fire after about a minute but it was on a flat pan that didn't let the fat drop down. I was hoping to be able to cook steaks like this and I'm not disappointed. When I drop the BS pan to the next position down it acts more like an electric. The electric ovens I've used had a top element that is spread over the whole top of the oven. They were cooler. A steak just turned gray no matter how hard I tried to char it....See MoreSilly questions about boots!
Comments (9)Those are cute Terriks! Stylish toe, not too pointy but just right! Some detail but not too much. The heel looks good but I cannot tell the height. WhatâÂÂs the brand? Oh boy, it just dawned on me tonight that I did something incredible stupid when I sold the house. In order to get all my clothes and husbands clothes in the closet at sons house (we are staying here till we find a house to buy) I packed most of our colder weather clothes and put them in one of the two large storage lockers. I have no idea where they are in the storage lockers. So, now IâÂÂm going to have buy some cardigans as wellâ¦a new black purseâ¦and??? ItâÂÂs a sad time which is causing me to lose focus on some basics I need especially now that I have to buy more stuff. I always get a bit wigged on my concentration when feeling stressed. Some of you may remember me posting about my aunt with seven inoperable brain tumors. That was I think 2 years and close to six months ago. We sort of grew up together as she is only four years older. Things are not looking good. She is in the hospital now and her husband is waiting to get some direction from their main doctor. She went well past her life expectancy and up till recently kept up with her social life. She did not have much use of one side of her body ( wheelchair) but never lost her sharp mind. I just spoke to her last week and she said she was holding her own. Since then one of the tumors moved and she is going downhill pretty fast as far as pain, communication and movement goes. She can still respond a tiny bit though and seems to recognize people. ItâÂÂs all so sad even though we have all known that there would not be a happy ending....See More3katz4me
