Make sure you place your trail cameras high out of reach of any intruder, otherwise they can just steal the SD card. We had a cable lock in addition but that just protects the cameras - sort of. It really only slows someone down if they are after it. Also, keep moving the cameras around. We set up another account through Verizon and had a remote recorder using data for a few months as well. Two of our subs had their trailer broken into which prompted our security. Good luck. Some people are a$$holes.

+100 on “No Trespassing”. If someone get injured on your property and no sign was present, you will be screwed. Technically GC liability insurance should cover. However they are going to inspect every single contract with every single vendor. And if one was missing insurance, or sub failed to properly list GC insurance as the "secondary" policy... expect coverage to be null and void. DOWN WITH LIBERTYMUTUAL CROOKS.

There are some battery/solar powered cameras around the cabin, and some local cities have battery operated cameras. I am guessing they cost $2-3k.

A camera will not help you, even building sites with security guards get broken into.

I am SO not an expert on this. But it always occurs to me, what good do the cameras really do? What good will it do you, if they eventually capture your thief, and years later get a conviction? You're never going to get your stuff back.

I like cameras, because if they catch an employee disappearing with something, someone could be held responsible, but for random thieves.... maybe it works as a deterrent? But in that case, a high fence, signs about guard dogs and security services might help. Perhaps, pay for a patrolling security service.

How can one build a home to a state of being able to be broken into without electricity? Did every sub bring his own generator? If I show up on a job without power or toilets, I walk. Every time. It's disrespectful.

Just sign stating the property under the surveillance will help. Personally when we are building I buy some old camper/trailer from some trailer park. Sell right back when done. Use a car to block the driveway. If you are stealing the foundation blocks you will be walking with two at a time 200' each way for a $1 and a chance to be in jail and may be a chance to get shot.

Thanks for your responses. The crimes are most likely kids breaking in, drinking and breaking the contractors equipment. I need to catch them on video as this is a small community and we will be able to identify them.
