Trump pardons billionaire friend who wrote a glowing book about him

President Trump gave a full pardon to a longtime friend who last year wrote a glowing book about Trump’s successes.

Conrad Black was convicted in 2007 on fraud charges, including alleged embezzlement, and obstruction of justice. He served more than three years in prison and was deported to his native Canada after he was released in 2012. He was barred from returning to the United States for 30 years.

The White House said in a statement that Black was “entirely deserving” of the pardon. In listing Black’s accomplishments, it mentions biographies Black wrote about presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Richard Nixon, but not his tome on Trump.

On the first page of that book, “Donald J. Trump: A President Like No Other,” Black writes: “Like the country he represents, Donald Trump possesses the optimism to persevere and succeed, the confidence to affront tradition and convention, a genius for spectacle, and a firm belief in common sense and the common man.”

In its statement, the White House offered a list of household names who have vouched for Black’s character, including Henry Kissinger, Elton John and Rush Limbaugh.

In addition to his book, Black frequently writes columns praising Trump and considers the president a friend.

Trump is so breathtakingly awful, so corrupt, so racist, so intolerant, a world class misogynist, that i can agree, that Trump is certainly like no other. Any other president would be ashamed to be like Trump.

No doubt Elton vouched for Black years ago before he wrote a positive book about Trump.

"a genius for spectacle"

What a thing to be admired for. Obviously the only area where he's possibly a genius.

Of course he does. trump is nothing if not consistent in applying the carrot and stick approach to everyone when it comes to loyalty to him.

Deserving of a pardon when he was convicted of crimes? How does that even go together?

Black had an early start with cheating...”was first educated at Upper Canada College (UCC), during which time, at age eight, he invested his life savings of $60 in one share of General Motors.[11] Six years later, he was expelled from UCC for selling stolen exam papers.[citation needed] He then attended Trinity College School in Port Hope, where he lasted less than a year, being expelled for insubordinate behaviour.[citation needed]”

Feh!

Black’s praise for Trump concluded: “Barring something completely
unforeseeable, this president will have a stronger argument for
reelection next year than any president since Richard Nixon in 1972
after his extraordinarily successful first term, if not Franklin D.
Roosevelt’s double reelections in 1936 and 1944.”

The statement didn’t mention that under Black’s ownership, the
Sun-Times sold its building at Wabash Avenue on the Chicago River to
Trump on the site where Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago now stands. The two had been partners in the project before Trump bought out Black.

The once-profitable Sun-Times never fully recovered from the crime
spree carried out by Black and Radler. Coupled with a downturn in
newspaper advertising, the fallout from their convictions and related
scandals led to the Sun-Times filing for bankruptcy in 2009. (I accepted a buyout and left the paper a year earlier.)

I see nothing wrong with Trump's actions. The privilege of being POTUS.
