Taj Mahal Slabs - Help!
Comments (11)Looks like some are honed and some polished? Might also have to consider preferred finish in making your choice. Prepare for some sticker shock! Taj is so hard that fabrication is pricier. Ask me how I know! My kitchen was 3 slabs, mitered edge. I love it and the Taj is bulletproof. Enjoy....See MoreWhat color should I use on my kitchen walls with Taj Mahal counters?
Comments (1)I have these countertops and it depends on your color balance. every room should have light, medium, and dark tones. now dark doesnt need to mean black, but the darkesst tone in the room. for yu, it might be your floor or that maybe the lightest as we don't have sample pictures. If your floors are light, I'd recommend darker hardware and accent pieces. everything then would be very light and i would use a midtone (a color between your lightest and darkest piece) that has a bit of yellow or rust to it (though the countertop can be beige, gray, and white with a rust veining, it can also be green. So I recommend picking your exact slab of quartzite, because if you don't, you won't know which you will get. Anyways, my style isnt everyones, but this can give you an idea. The stone on the right has every color in the cabinets, back splash, appliances, and the countertop. So one of these colors, even in a lighter or darker tone, should work. If you can get samples of each piece and create a board for the room, this may also help you select the right color for you and your home....See MoreHelp needed for Edge Profile on Taj Mahal
Comments (8)@Mark Scheibelhut Thanks! yes the designer and countertop place all said wow you are taking this exceptionally well. It hurt my heart because I had spent so much time picking "those slabs" but in the big scheme of things I went to my default "it could always be worse". Also now look I get another bite at the apple to perfect anything I didn't know about in the first round. I was also very thankful they offered to replace it all and not just the perimeter where the broken piece was to go, they are replacing the island and other detached areas so it all matches. I was also surprised they did not charge more for Ogee I had heard many did but if they had I would have paid it no problem, logically it cost more to fabricate I get that. If I understand correctly, it cost more to do Ogee in fabrication but then also ogee is more prone to chipping as well due to the sharp edge at the top? Originally the only feedback I had found was that it is more to clean due to the valley that gets created but that didn't bother me so finishing my education on these edges I apparently missed. Thanks!...See MoreWhat color should I paint my kitchen cabinets with Taj Mahal quartzite
Comments (8)Nobody asked for the full context. I did, as she wrote"my floor is ceramic beige and cream tones" Call it big trouble in "river city" .....from her private message. Wait until the op returns. Paint is the least of the issue right now. To others.......... When we prod and poke beyond your obvious question? We do it for a reason, and it isn't to annoy you. Ask FIRST before major investments in any partial refresh of anything. : ) but especially kitchens and baths....See MoreJeffrey R. Grenz, General Contractor
