help picking the last paint color for my very bright office
Comments (14)Just a short note to say thank you to everyone for their kind words and color thoughts. I'll be back in a bit, as soon as I get the painters situated, to comment more fully and share some pics. Trust me, les, I have great views from every seat in my office. :) There are two desks floating in the room, facing each other. The one closest to the long narrow window has my giant computer monitor on it. When I am looking at that monitor I can't see anything over the top of it. It completely blocks my view into the library. But when I look to the right, I see the bubbling rock in the backyard. The other desk is for art and research. When I sit there and look left, I see the birdbath. The big rocking chair is my reading chair, and also faces the yard. I planted things in the yard with my line of sight from the office in mind. No matter where I sit I can see and hear the birds. Also, when you come in the house, a glance through the French doors lets you see my office. I wouldn't want to have people seeing my messy desk. :)...See MorePaint color for dark office with cherry desk?
Comments (31)Glad you like the suggestion(s). I have a similar color in my livingroom, Behr's War Muffin but it's a stronger gold and I ended up repainting two of our walls cream to help tone it down a bit. Now I love it but when I chose it, I new nothing about painting or color. I think having a more muted tone would have been my preference if I had known then what I do now. Lighting has so much to do with it too, if you paint a sample on your wall, the Oat may not be as muted as it seems on the card. This isn't our room, but it is a good representation of the Warm Muffin color. As for the drapes, I got the 2nd photo off of google images, the first one is from Pottery Barn. I love the idea of a printed drape. If you're leaning in that direction (or even a printed rug) I would first find the drapes or rug you want and then pull your wall color from them. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you end up choosing and how your project looks when it's done!...See MorePaint color help for home office.
Comments (25)So my husband agreed and decided on Gauntlet Gray for the cabinets. I want to paint that triangular wall above the cabinets also the Gauntlet Gray so we have one whole wall of this dark color. The painter and I convinced my husband to paint the ceiling, baseboard, and window trim, plus back of the glass French doors white. The designer says all dark gray trim, but the baseboards are skimpy for these large rooms and high ceilings. I know I’ve hurt my hubby’s feelings because he was set on all gray trim for re-sale. We are trying to tell him that he is seeing what builders are doing in model homes and the painter is telling him what he paints the most which is what customers are asking for. Now, what to put on the walls with the SW Gauntlet Gray? The designer says Accessible beige. And he wants to put Agreeable Gray throughout the house, with Accessible beige in the first floor master and tiny dining room. I’m struggling with these two color tones, Accessible beige and Agreeable Gray. The center is the cabinet color. I’ve never seen it or sampled it. Scares me but painter and designer say it’s a great color. Bottom left little sample is SW Accessible beige. The one above it is BM Edgecomb Gray, the little center strip is BM pale oak. And the far right is SW Agreeable Gray....See MoreHelp! What color to paint office desk and cabinets
Comments (4)Very helpful that you gave your pallet and thoughts. Choose your countertop and then your desk and cabinet colors. Countertop colors are limited, while paint colors are infinite. You can color match to Silestone Altair since you like that one - then go a shade darker or lighter for a nice color flow. Your pallet is very dark - except for the golden/beige walls- ranging from a black/brown to a brown/green. These are tones we used more in the 2000's so be sure and choose updated lines in the furnishings or the room will look dated already. The floor is beautiful! For the rest of the furnishings - choose a light colored rug, chairs in a beige or bring in a pop of a rich blue. Definitely add some greenery in natural stone pots on your shelving to bring in nature. A large, modern art piece would keep the vive fresh in this traditional space....See MoreAmy Lydia
