Chocolate walls....need help with accessories!
Comments (12)I'd like to see a bit of contrast between the lighting fixture and the wall. If the walls are dark chocolate, then I agree that nickel sconces would look nice. I'm a bit opposite from you in my master, we have lighter beige-tan walls, so we have dark ORB sconces. The sink faucet below the ORB sconces is polished nickel. The mirror frame above the sink, and between the sconces, I painted that a chocolate brown to match the color of the ORB sconces. If you want to hide the sconces then have them coordinate with the wall color. ORB sconces and chocolate brown walls. If you want them to stand out, have them contrast with the wall color. In your case with your mirror being "aged tin", maybe you could coordinate the sconce finish with the mirror frame? Pewter sconces? Tough to say without seeing the actual finishes and the style of the fixtures, but check out the options and go with your gut. If your gut says matchy-match then there you go. If you find you prefer a mix of various finishes, then feel confident to travel that design path. Mongo...See MoreSuggestion for accessories similar to Kohler Finial style?
Comments (6)Hi, I also have the Kohler Finial faucets in all of my bathrooms. Instead of getting the Kohler Finial towel bars, I have towel bars and toilet paper holders, etc. made by Aquabrass. In one bathroom I used the Aquabrass Series 400, and in another bath, I used the Series 500. To me they are a fairly close match to my Kohler Finial faucets. The difference (to me) is that the Kohler is a little bit thinner and longer than the Aquabrass. I could take pictures and measurements if you needed more info. But to me, they are a good match. The aquabrass is quite elegant looking, similar to the Kohler Finial (to me). The Aquabrass Series 500 is exactly the same as the Series 400 except that there are fancy ridges along the outside ring, so the 500 series looks a bit fancier than the...See MoreHelp!! Comments (7)Welcome to the forum blue999! I think you have some great spaces to work with. The pictures looked a little dark on my screen, but I don't see a problem with all your different styles. When you start buying accessories and art try focusing on a two or three colors in order to tie things together (ie a red vase on the kitchen counter and a piece of art with a smidge of red in a bowl on the coffee table - whatever colors you like). The fun you have now is that you have a blank slate to work with - any colors or patterns you want. I love your red wall and think some pillows (seat covers or a runner on the dining table in the same pattern?) and a cozy spread with red in them would look great! Maybe use the PB cube as an end table? Line up some art on the red wall, like a gallery, and put a sofa table back there and I think it would show off real well. Don't try to rush. Keep reading here and looking at pictures and catalogs everywhere, learn all you can and concentrate on what makes you feel good and/or excited when you see it. It takes most of us a year or even many years to find and accomplish the look we want....See MoreCan you help me pick color and accessories?
Comments (60)Hey guys, Just an update. I hired an interior decorator to redo the space. Not because your suggestions weren't good enough, they were amazing! I simply decided after the fact that I wanted to start from scratch, and felt having a designated person do it would speed up the process. The decorator gave me two different designs, and I'm moving forward with design two. I just wanted to thank everyone one of you again for helping me, and show y'all how it turned out. You guys helped show me what I really wanted, and I wouldn't have gotten to this place with my living room otherwise, so thank you!
