Comments (8)Except for the dog issue, I'm confused about what you're trying to do with fences. If you must fence the property line, which it as top of berm, I presume you would eliminate fence close to retaining wall (so as not to have a strip of land sequestered in between two fences.) It would be vastly easier to understand if you'd take a site plan (I'm sure you have one since the house is currently being built) and mark out your intentions, and submit a photo. Hopefully it will explain what/how you mean about running a fence "half way." In regards to the issue about the dog or children jumping off the retaining wall. I can't really believe either wouldn't be able to learn their capabilities almost instantly. The wall doesn't look high enough to be a real danger and won't there be unpaved areas at its lower side? Doesn't seem like a problem. When I was a child we would think this wall a nice toy. Plantings could easily limit access....See MoreAny landscaping ideas for the retaining wall planter?
Comments (4)What a nice neat job on your driveway. I like it. I agree on a good sized blob of green in the bed - something that will reach no more than 5 feet tall or so at its mature height - to draw attention away from that garage door....See MoreLandscaping / retaining ideas?
Comments (5)We don't have a good picture of the slope next to the drive, as the surroundings which put it in context can't be seen. But it looks like prior owners have tried to "pave" the surface of the slope with a layer of rock. The trouble is that the job is inferior ... too small of rocks placed on an inadequate base, so it's coming apart. It could be rebuilt, reusing the larger rocks if there are enough and adding to them, and discarding the smaller material. Or it could all be done away with and the slope repaved with a concrete slab ... like what one sees covering the ground below a freeway overpass. Or it could be replaced with a retaining wall. Personally, I opt for slope as it doesn't make the driveway space seem as restricted....See MoreRelated Professionals
