Comments (6)You have a lot going on with all the different roof lines and windows and columns. I think what's throwing me off is the two-tone white and brown. I think if all the white and brown was just one colour it might simplify your house visually and bring out the beautiful architecture. At first I thought to paint it all white but then I thought maybe a darker tone of your roof colour. Not sure. As for the ivy, yes, remove it. It covers your red brick and makes the bottom part of your house look squat. Remove it and the bottom red brick will visually be in more proportion. You have a lovely house, the roof line is really cool! Good luck!...See MoreImprove curb appeal and exterior color for 1895 half brick house?
Comments (1)That brick may be historical, but it isn't very attractive. paint it using something like Romabio. very little upkeep that way. That whole house would look so dramatic in a gray scheme. cannot wait to see the after....See MoreRanch House or MCM? Facade needs help to improve curb appeal
Comments (22)thanks! kendallinsd I think those window changes to the bedrooms would make a big difference to the curb appeal. by the way, I am not against painting brick. if done right, it will be fine. however, yours is a nice muted reddish tone. I think what's not working is that there's too much contrast between the brick and siding, breaking up the shapes. the mockups houssaon and I did for you look better because it gives your house a more cohesive look. I also encourage keeping (or restoring) that pergola. again, it's part of the midcentury shape of that house that makes it special. but like I suggested before, a wood pillar might look better there. have fun. post pics as you improve this adorable home!...See MoreNeed help to improve the exterior (siding and brick) and curb appeal.
Comments (8)Assuming the windows can't be painted, the challenge I see is to integrate their brighter white with the pink-ier white (in the photo, at least) of the brick. What about a soft, pearly gray for the siding? I'd keep the shutters and actually add more; they (1) provide an opportunity to repeat the brick color against the siding and the siding color against the brick, integrating the parts of the house, and (2) could cover the obvious infill panels beside the two lower windows. Do you know if the brick of the column is structural or just veneer? If possible, I think stopping the brick at the line of the lower window edges and using painted wood above looks better than a straight brick column with no detail. A widened walkway, lines of evergreens to "ground" the house, a couple of tall deciduous shrubs where there are no windows, and a clean and simple entry area finish off this makeover option....See MoreRelated Professionals
