Venting a Bertazzoni 30" gas range: Hood vs microhood?
Comments (1)Is your primary usage going to be boiling eggs and heating water for tea, or serious cooking? If the latter, do you care about odor and grease buildup on the walls and fabrics? Please review the many many ventilation-related threads on this forum to gain increasing perspective on ventilation issues, or download and review the references within the messages stored at my My Clippings. kas...See MoreRange hood: Vent-a-hood vs. Best
Comments (3)As thr former owner (and slow learner) of two Vent-a-hood installations in two previous homes I can say from experience I found them to be very noisy at all three speeds. Thoroughly cleaning grease deposits was a difficult if not impossible chore. In our present home we recently installed a 36RNB Bluestar range with a Best #WP29M427SB hood and a 1,266 CFM Fantech FKD 10XL in line blower. Results - PERFECT ! No smoke or cooking odors, quiet operation at all speeds and the dishwasher does the cleaning. We couldn't be happier with the results....See MoreVent Hood Size Over Induction Range vs. Gas Range
Comments (7)It's a universal recommendation that the hood be at least 6" wider than the surface it covers. And as deep as you can manage. It has nothing to do with the fuel used to heat the food. It has to do with the fact that smoke, steam, smells, and aerosolized grease particles rise upwards and outwards. That's physics. A smaller hood can't capture all of those yucks. Stronger fans can't compensate for a lack of capture area either. It's more important to have a good capture area than a strong fan....See MoreRange Hood to OTR Microwave - Vent Issues
Comments (2)1. Buy a pair of tin snips. 2. Buy a section of 3.5x10" duct and fabricate your own manifold. 3. Make a fully dimensioned drawing, find a local sheet metal fabricator and have one made. 4. Enroll in a full emersion "being smarter than what you are working on instruction" and come up with an additional solution to add to the discussion....See MoreTracy
