Need help with paint color for brick fireplace wall
Comments (1)What if you painted the mantle to match the walls? I have a 70s brick fireplace, brick to ceiling by not full width of wall. I've been researching and found instructions on cleaning the brick then putting something on it to help keep it clean and add a bit of sheen. We're not going to paint the brick, but will change the wall color around it and make a new mantle. 2016 version 2017 version Still looking for the right color for the walls. It has recirculating vents with fans to distribute heat. I keep having visions of painting them in hippie colors. So far, I've restrained my self....See MoreHelp choosing colors w/ natural brick fireplace in Victorian home
Comments (14)@leelee, LOL, yes the red/orange color is the color I'd be covering up. :) @celerygirl, thank you for doing that! That was really helpful and took your tip and tried this on the BM site as well! I am agreeing with you all that the lighter neutral color would work best. Here are the colors I've narrowed it down to that look good with BM Gray Mirage: BM 2146-60 November Rain BM HC-80 Bleeker Beige BM HC-173 Edgecomb Gray SW 7738 Cargo Pants (will need to compare the paint chip to BM Gray Mirage to be sure but looks good from what I can tell) If you have any thoughts on these 3 colors (or any others), I would love to hear them since I am absolutely horrible at picking out colors and have made some costly and timely mistakes in the past. You guys are great! Thanks again!...See MoreTo Paint Brick Fireplace White or Not? Need Help!
Comments (24)The texture, stack, color of the brick and the shape of a fire place is designed specifically for the style and era of a home. Painting brick and stone is like trying to turn a tutor home into a MCM and usually turns out mishmashed. To each their own , but the examples above of the painted stone and brick fireplace look cheap , flat and tacky. I've seen several posts on how to bring back the character and warmth in the snowstorm kitchens that was all the fad. I've only seen two on how to remove the paint from brick , but I'm sure there will be many more as the trend fades. Guess what, your stuck with it. You can't remove the paint....See MoreShutter or No Shutter? Need Help w/ Paint color 1960s brick home
Comments (7)Thank you all so much for your comments! Just to clarify... I have black louvered shutters on all windows on the front of the house (as shown in the 2nd photo). The first photo shows how it looks since we have removed a few shutters for repair and paint prep. I have seen a lot of tone on tone or lighter colored shutters and began wondering if my black w/white siding on top of multi-color old brick looked too dated. The back of the house has 4 casement windows (upper) and 2 lower. We have never had shutters on these. I noticed that my photos - front and back yard - look almost mirror-image! But that was just a coincidence. Thanks again to you all! Picking out paint colors is tougher than it looks! :)...See MoreShannon_WI
