Master Bath Counter and Floor Tile Coordination

I'm currently under pressure to select countertops, floor tile and shower tile for my master bath in my new build home. The cabinetry will be off-white raised panel, walls will be Sherwin Williams "Amazing Gray" which is a warm gray and my style is European cottage/rustic elegant. My designer is steering me towards LG Minuet quartz counters which look like an off-white marble with gray veining. For the shower, I'm planning on a gray marble look hexagon tile floor with marble look tile walls. My biggest dilemma is the floor: the designer is steering me towards white/gray marble look tile floor or gray stone look tile. I feel that I don't want to a cold sterile look in the bathroom which is what it will feel like with all that marble and gray. Also, when the gray trend passes, I want to be able to switch the walls to beige or taupe. I would like to do light wood-look plank tile floors but have read this may become dated quickly. Any thoughts on a floor option or should I switch out the counters to something with gray and beige/taupe veining?

There are so many other floor tile choices other than the 2 you mentioned. Are you being forced to use limited choices from a builder's design center or can you go to a good independent tile store with more options?

I think you might have too many materials. Hard to say without seeing the samples and a floor plan and elevations.

Usually people will use the same tile on the master floor and the shower floor. You just use the mosaic size in the shower.

My floor tile was a large 18x38 and it had a matching 2x2 for the shower.

Do you love marble? Marble hex with marble-look quartz with marble-look porcelain shower wall tile seems like a lot of marble.

Perhaps a marble look porcelain floor, with the same tile in a 2x2 for the shower floor and then plain white tiles on the shower walls. Reuse the 2x2 in a niche or as an accent? Use a simpler white quartz for the counter.

Thank you all for your feedback. I was able to get everything; sample door, countertop samples, and tile samples all in the same location this morning. The while one is the definite winner. It is a lovely, silky, white with some depth. I really like it. It is a discontinued color so I am getting it at a great price.

1st picture I would keep as is. It looks like a faux wood tile. I think the idea behind those is to minimize the grout so it looks more realistic. You also want very minimal grout between tiles. My parents have a wood look tile in their second home. One barely notices the grout lines. Second picture--I would select something a shade or two lighter. Personally I don't like when grout is darker than the tile. It reminds me of a gas station restroom and looks dirty to me. On my screen it looks like you matched the darker shade in the tile. I'd try to match the lighter shade.

thank you, what did you mean by "I would not take up the charge of the sink"? Do you mean you wouldn't bother replacing? Regarding the flooring....the rest of the house has the old school 3/4" oak flooring so if I change the flooring to hardwood in the kitchen and entryway, I would have to change out all the hardwood in the living room and kitchen. This was my thought process anyway. I did check out the cost and for the flooring I like, it would be a lot of $. To answer your question, the sq footage of the combined entry way and kitchen which is currently tiled, is about 170 sq ft. what did you mean about backsplash? I was thinking black granite counter top and then a simple backsplash and yes I def want a coordinated look. warm, inviting and not choppy and misfitting. thanks again

"This is not our forever home so I would prefer to be budget savvy/conscious . . . " Nothing about what you're proposing seems budget savvy/conscious. Here's a question: If the shower hadn't leaked would you be doing anything to the bathroom at all besides painting? Why not just repair/rebuild the existing shower area and be done with it? That would the most budget savvy and in keeping with it not being your forever home. A complete bathroom gut and remodel (which is the path you're on) is not.

Are you limited to certain tiles offered by the builder?? If not you have to find something you love...the wood look tiles are really nice and many people still use them... If it fits the style of the home then it won't be dated. If it looks more trendy and not expected in your style of home - that is what becomes dated..

As someone always says on these boards - find what makes your heart sing! It's so true. This is a new build - who cares whats in style or not - get what you love!
