Help with floating wall shelf placement

I bought four of these round floating shelves to go on either side of the ‘art’ display string. There are two larger and two smaller. I am planning to hang the large one on top and the small one below to the right and left . But, I’m wondering, should I place the top one even with the string, or above the string? I’m not sure how to best arrange them.

What a cute room. Love the colored buttons on the sofa.

I think you should cut some square paper the size of each, so you can easily position them on the wall. Move the squares until it looks right. Starting at the bottom. Measure about 5 to 6 inches from the top of the sofa for the bottom edge of the circle. Estimate how much space you want between the top and bottom of the two units, then place the second one on top.

Here is a mock-up, slightly off because of the picture angle. I alternated the sizes. The left side looks better.

The size of the shelf means nothing to us without knowing the size of the fireplace. I think the fireplace currently has a modern, streamlined vibe. A shelf here to me would look like extra clutter, but it's really your personal preference.

You can put any slim Ikea book shelf where the hats are, i have a Corkboard to one side too to add notes etc on it. I use the small Ikea metallic drawers ( affordable) to put printer paper and stationary etc. or computer accessories such as wires or antivirus etc. you can hand ( stick) envelope folders on the side of bookcase too to save on space.

Aloha @Floored You: TileDesigners Thank you for the questions. I was hoping it could be fastened with an adhesive vs the wood. Was hoping for feedback if that would be a good option. We had water damage to our kitchen so since we had to tear out the drywall, we thought we should try to make the kitchen how we’d like it to be. Electrical is where it was previously located. There were high cabinets before. This is a cookie cutter style house for this subdivision we are in. Cabinet height is 34 1/2”.

I was way off estimating their size. Think it looks better 11 inches off the top of the couch. But I would move them to the center about 2 inches on each side and add about an inch between the units.

I moved the left side only to show what I mean. (The difference in wall color shows how much I moved the images.) What do you think?

Adorable room. I suggest a different idea. Because it looks to be children’s artwork you’re displaying, I would switch the display with the art that’s on side wall. The reason is because when you are sitting on sofa you can’t see artwork, but if it’s on side wall you would have a better view of the masterpieces!

What a pretty, colorful space! One more suggestion-consider lowering the art work so it feels more connected to the shelves. Right now it's about 6-8 inches too high.
