Need advice with new living room layout and old furniture
Comments (13)@housegal200 - I agree! I love everything about how this house was staged and would have been totally happy buying all their furniture. I wanted to hire a designer/decorator for at least the living room but I couldn't get my husband on-board with that idea and now I'm terrified about how bad this room might potentially look. Unfortunately getting a smaller TV in here is not an option - he is dead set on keeping this TV and making this the family room. There is another room in between the dining room and kitchen that is being used as a formal sitting room but it's not as nice as this room....See MoreNeed help with master bedroom furniture and layout for new lake house
Comments (12)Floating the bed is a nice idea but you wouldn't have room for any type of night stands. An armoire is a wonderful idea for extra storage. Something like this with some extra drawers would work. https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Grain-Wood-Furniture-Greenport-2-Door-Armoire/25739333/product.html?option=43173892 Then use bachelor chests or 3 drawer nightstands for more drawer storage. https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/rosalind-wheeler-lusia-3-drawer-nightstand-w001460587.html If there's room, perhaps you could add a bench under the window. Just simple white sheers on the window since you don't seem to need privacy. The floors are beautiful and it's a lovely room. A modern antique brass bed like this would make a wonderful juxtaposition in a traditional room! https://www.burkedecor.com/products/westwood-bed-in-antique-brass?...See MoreNew house needs new furniture and layout help
Comments (3)Very similar to our last home. When the plywood decking was down before flooring went in, I measured and drew island out on the floor and used a large cardboard box to put where the sofa with sofa table would go. Then DH and I marked under the "sofa" for the outlets. Your electrician should do a walk thru with your to discuss outlet and switch location before the rough-in. The large window, is there a view you want to face? Or the other wall of windows, does that open? View? With range wall, island and then table/chairs all in a row, I would want to break up the lines by doing the sofas or sofa/chairs in the opposite direction....See MoreNew house - needs color palette and furniture layout for living room
Comments (1)You'll get the best help if you can please provide us with a hand drawn floor plan and measurements. Please label where the living room and dining room is on the floor plan. A couch and chairs are easier to decorate than a sectional. Bland is not bad - it gives you a lot of options - it doesn't limit you. If you want to pick out your style, put in top HOUZZ search box (one at a time) different styles. Here are just a few - transitional, modern, traditional, eclectic, casual. Regarding your mirror - just keep in mind that mirrors are best when they have an interesting reflection....See Moregroveraxle
